Time for JD to ask for final submissions and open voting when they're in.

Next Up is Mila.

I will notify both of them via Messages here.

Now that's a bit of a surprise! I seem to have missed PD's poll. I'm sorry about that but I did check the team thread a couple of times.- I could start a poll next Sunday but at the latest because next week I will be busy with all kind of stuff.

  It was in there, Mila, but perhaps not as an announcement only of that (it was in announcing that Nick's poll was open for voting).

It's OK to start whenever you are able.  Hugs!

Thank you Nickie, I obviously overlooked that info.

I have several options but I'll narrow them down to 2 less specific ones. Please let me know if any of these themes inspire you and which one would be your favourite. Smile

- acoustic music/instruments (amps allowed, exceptionally incl. bass guitar)
- multi-instrumentalists (also as a member of a band)

We had an acoustic/folk round.
Multi-instrumentalists - that's a good idea.

^Make sure you define 'Multi'.  Two, three, an orchestra worth? What counts? Almost every musician I've ever met in my entire life can play at least two instruments. Does vocals count?
Lot's to concider. Just trying to help out.

@Cristi
This is actually not limited to folk music, quite the opposite. That's why I specified in parenthesis that amps and bass guitars were accepted. It's rather a "do they really master their instrument" kind of thing, you see?

but that can be anything, a concerto for "name instrument" and orchestra would fit here.
Any jazz before they got electric fits as well, doesn't it?
Maybe i don't understand. Confused

It seems @Mila is looking more to a 'style' of music as opposed to a 'theme' for the music.

For instance (acoustic music/instruments)...This would fit.

@JD
Thanks for your support! I'm aware that both themes need some specification. I just want to take the temperature to find out in which direction to go.

The emphasis would be on 'instrumentalist', so no singer-songwriters in a narrower sense. It could be a one-person band but also a musician who is part of a band, someone who has a strong influence on the sound of that band. Yes, many musicians play more than one instrument but the point is, how good are they at it? At any event it would be beneficial if that musician would play more than one instrument in the suggested song.

Well, actually it is not about a specific music style in terms of music genre. Acoustic music is music that solely or primarily uses instruments that produce sound through acoustic means, as opposed to electric or electronic means. An acoustic version of a rock song is one of many options. I tend to focus on music that was written by the performer, rather than covers, exc. if it is about classical music or jazz. Maybe the latter two genres should be excluded to make things more comprehensible?

It's always difficult choose between classical music and pop/rock, imo.

I like the idea of acoustic songs of every genre.

No matter if it was already done.

The idea about poli instrumentalists is not clear to me. How can we identify a poli instrumentalist?
Prince, ok?
But in a band? How many musical instruments should he play?

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

^ finding some live performance with a musician playing several instruments is difficult. It was still difficult to find youtube videos for less challenging themes.

I know some musicians play several instruments on an album because I/we read about it, right. At least that's how i know. LOL

My idea behind the "multi-instrumentalists" theme was that each poll participant focuses on one musician who he/she thinks is exceptional by introducing him/her in all his/her facettes. Songs where an artist plays several instruments at once are rare. A one-person act is one option. In case of a musicians who play in bands it should be possible to show their musical versability through several songs, with the same band or maybe with two bands that they are/were playing with. Prince is a good example, and there are many more.

About "acoustic songs", this is a broad term, maybe too broad. I want musical diversity but a bit of a specification could also be helpful. I thought that by saying f.e. that it is about original songs (music written by ther performer), old classical music and jazz standards could be excluded? Bands listed in PA are another recurring question.

^ I rarely, if ever watch videos, so it is difficult to find a video for an artist I had in mind for the IPs. . I could not find videos for certain songs I had in mind for some rounds, in the past.

I agree on excluding old classical music and jazz standards.
