The
longer governments keep the food service industry locked down and unable to
provide their services at peak performance, more of us are turning to our own
kitchen skills to fill the gap.
Each of channeling our internal Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay or perhaps Julia Child or Grahan Kerr (ok, I admit it..I’m Old). The theme is What’s Cookin’? Find your cooking or food-centric tunes and let’s dish up a heapin’ helping of music. (No drinks/beverages please (ie: No Pina Colada's or Jack Daniels no Coffee, Tea or Milk etc.)
So...my Game my rules?? 1. Post a non-prog video or two max, meaning you should avoid bands that are listed on the Prog Archives site. Gotta keep it manageable so choose your songs wisely. 2. Listen to the music that has been posted. 3. Keep checking back until you've listened to them all. 4. Then we will vote for our top song. 5. Everyone is welcome to vote once the voting opens. Please do not vote before the voting opens. I will add the songs when the submitter confirms their final choice in no particular order. 6. If I mess up, blame all my vaccinations, those little suckers are controlling everything now.Edited by JD - January 29 2022 at 06:01 |

Bon Appetit, JD! Thank you for serving up a delicious meal for us here, kind of a potluck, since everyone will be bringing different dishes to share. Will start planning my contributions to the meal.

I thought you said no "pina colada" song. That's a good rule! Ok, got it, I'll be back if i know songs about cooking/eating/food.

This topic is too restrictive.
Songs about food... but not drinks... and not prog. I won't be participating. Wake me up when someone does an interactive poll that includes prog. |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

We have sometimes done lesser- known prog allowable in these polls, then it is stated so, this is up to the OP, per the way these are conducted.

I decided to do two kind of silly ones here. First up is Robin Williamson and His Merry Band performing "Oh! That Gorgonzola Cheese," in a live performance.
Next up is "I Like Bananas, )Because They Have No Bones)," by George Elrick.

Nice theme! Question: If there's food in the song, does it disqualify it if there's also a drink? (Or does the rule maybe apply to the title, so a song called "Carbonara" will work even if there's Coca Cola in the lyrics?)

OK well, for starters I try this one. It's not exactly about food in the first place, and no cooked food for sure. But I hope it counts because it's about the ICE CREAM MAN, by Mary Coughlan. Edited by Lewian - January 21 2022 at 17:02 |

Spaghetti alla carbonara is one of the World's seven wonders. But if you want to taste the genuine recipe, only in Rome and in some good restaurants you can eat them Edited by jamesbaldwin - January 22 2022 at 01:03 |

Hahaha, take this then: Spliff - Carbonara. In fact this was probably their biggest hit, but not exactly their best song, at least not for prog fans, I suppose. They just hint at being quite good if they want to. This was my first love's favourite album when it came out. By the way, I know some appreciate Nina Hagen here, Spliff were her former band.

Oh, it's a pity I already used King Missile's Eating People in an earlier poll... So, to make things worse a song titled "Worst" (which means "sausage" in Dutch, as is explained at the beginning of the song...): Pé Daalemmer & Rooie Rinus - Worst: I'll give a translation of the lyrics, but these will remain just temporarily up here (my translation): Sausage, it’s got everything Sausage, it’s got everything Pig sausages, sheep eyes, cow chin I’d rather macrobiotic whole wheat macaroni Bio-dynamic packed bell pepper Add a free-range egg and an unsprayed orange as dessert Sausage, it’s got everything Sausage, it’s got everything Yes, tasty sausages, from the end to the begin I have so much fun with a turkey stick I have so much fun with a meat croquette A spring roll, an egg ball and fries with mayo sauce Tomato ketchup, piccalilli, peanut sauce All together with an onion On my frikandel special Sausage, it’s got everything Sausage, yes it’s got everything Sausage, liver sausage Beer sausage Dry sausage Blood sausage It’s got everything, sausage Dry spicy sausage Saxon liver sausage Saxon liver sausage Saxon liver sausage Saxon liver sausage Saxon liver sausage … Sssssssssssssssssssssalami Long or short, thick, thin, straight or curved Cow intestines are holding it strong Finely grind in your grinder four cow's eyes Then nine lymph nodes and a pig's snout Top it off with mix from Knorr And for the creaminess a dash of beef blood Sausage sausage sausage sausage sausage sausage Sausage sausage sausage sausage sausage sausage Sausage sausage sausage sausage sausage sausage Sausage Sausage Sausage… Edited by suitkees - January 22 2022 at 05:03 |
