The Jazz-Funk Lounge

Okay, here's a question for you. Is there anyone you'd like me to add to the list who I may have missed?

I've added two good suggestions to the list already...

Herbie Hancock (from Saperlipoppette)

and

Jamiroquai (from A Crimson Mellotron)

Well, I could add Jazz Fusion to the above list, adding another 246 artists and over 1300 albums. That would make it a whole lot bigger, although there's probably not much point as we already have a perfectly good Jazz Fusion list here at PA.   

I'm just an obsessive list-maker, but you already knew that anyway. 

I have around 16,000 artists and 80,000 album covers (across all genres of music) currently stored on my old  laptop, so it seemed a shame not to share them with everyone here. This A-Z list of Jazz-Funk  has now become a collaborative effort too, as Saperlipoppete & A Crimson Mellotron have helpfully added Herbie Hancock & Jamiroquai to the list. If there's anyone you'd like me to add to the list too, just let me know.  

You say that, but this thread had been lying dormant since July last year before I started typing out this A-Z list and it's now come back to life again. 

On the subject of Herb Alpert, here's one of my all-time favourite Jazz-Funk tracks...

I can see your point, but to differentiate which albums are genuinely Jazz-Funk from a long list of 2900 Jazz albums would mean I'd actually have to listen to every single one of those albums and that would literally take forever. Anyway, I've done the next best thing by combining Smooth Jazz & Jazz-Funk together as there's a lot of crossover between the two genres. Regarding Jazz-Rock/Fusion, I'll have to leave that for another day and another thread.
