Inspired by Greg's side long epics poll, here are 22 mostly modern (last twentyish years) songs over twenty minutes for you to choose your favorite. I purposely left off Wobbler's From Silence to Somewhere and IQ's Harvest of Souls because they would squash the competition.

While I feel that I should remind myself of various of these by looking them up to stream, I went with one I remember well, French TV - Joosan Lost / The Fate.

There are some here that I really like. Transatlantic gets my vote.

None of these are exactly slam dunks for me. I guess I'll vote for "Joosan Lost / The Fate", but the original by Samla Mammas Manna is way better in my opinion.

There a few here I could choose, but I've settled on Frost*'s Milliontown - a great debut.

Of the ones that I know, none are spongeworthy, so I'll choose one that isn't listed:
Shamblemaths - Conglomeration (or: The Grand Pathetic Suite) |

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Choosing between Visions, The Door and Crossroads gave me as much pain as leaving behind Six Degrees, Underfall Yard and Trick of the Mind.

If it had been The Glass Prison or The Great Debate on the other CD I could have voted for those two.

Great to see Southern Empire listed amongst these bands and choices. I would liked to have been parochial and sling them my vote but I only just noticed their inclusion.

Lots of good choices amongst the ones that I know. I gave my big big vote to the big big train.

I've only ever heard five of the selected modern epics and checked out about half of these bands at some point. Discipline and Helmet of Gnats (and I'm sure the rest) are good at what they do, but not really that relevant to my field of interests. I really like: Boredoms - Seadrum Secret Chiefs 3: Ishraqiyun - Perichoresis Guapo - King Lindorm The Ilk - Bulldance / Forbidden Sun Morte Macabre - Symphonic Holocaust Elephant9 - Habanera Rocket and I suppose just about any Godspeed You! Black Emperor!-option
