It wasn’t hard critique. It wasn’t even negative. It was merely a recognition of my confusion, which remains ongoing, and the disappointment from realising that it appears that my veil of confusion is unlikely ever to be lifted. If that disappoints you, I’m sorry - that wasn’t my intention.

Then, I can only say, it's hard critique. I did my best, and can be disappointed, as well.

If to problematise your explanation, I could say, half of the album on the top 30 list are post-70's, of which only three are from the 80's.

I wished, you were more communicative, and maybe more constructive, as well, but what do I know with all this lack of communication.

And I can tell you that you might very well be the person who in the best way has answered the questions I wanted to be answered.

If that’s how it works, then I ought to be almost dead bottom, as while I like music from all eras, most of my listening is contemporary. Hardly anything I’ve listened to this year has not been released this year. Hardly anything I listened to last year was not released last year.

If that were the intention, then it would have made more sense to name only the bands and not the the albums of the bands. If Opeth were there without Blackwater Park, I would have included them in my list. But as much as I like Blackwater Park (and I love it), it’s probably not in my top five Opeth albums, so even though I rate it highly, I wasn’t sure it was high enough to include in my list.

Basically, I included any of the albums listed, only if they were in my top five from that band, regardless of how much I might like them. Furthermore, because I refused to rank them, or compare them to each other, then the list I gave is not as representative of what I like, had it been just bands and not specific albums listed. Again, to use Opeth as an example, I like Blackwater Park far more than many of the albums I did list.

Finally, the list was fairly conventional and “safe” (for lack of a better word), so it didn’t really allow any representation of what any individual might choose to listen to. I suspect that’s why there were so many “or something” replies. I was tempted to do that myself, as I found the list of albums so uninspired/uninspiring. But as it’s a game, it seemed churlish to take it all too seriously, and rebel against something that ultimately is a bit of meaningless fun.

I’m hoping there is more to the game than this discussion period, as I definitely don’t think any conclusions can be drawn that are in any way meaningful given what has occurred so far. I await part three with interest….. 🤔
