It's so hard to decide. I have it narrowed down to The Breeders and Linda Martini. I think I might save Linda Martini for another poll since The Breeders song is more of a hard rocker with attitude. But I'm going to use the second of The Breeders songs I posted.
So my nomination is The Breeders - "Cannonball" which is the one I wanted to go with in the first place for this poll. Edited by TCat - October 25 2021 at 09:27 |

Just now I noticed your post. Thanks a lot for the advice, Lewian! I thought I was the only person here with that problem. It was embarrassing!

Thank you all for your comments, much appreciated! The opinions are divided and although my favourite artist Tash Sultana got some nice feedback, I feel that her style doesn't quite fit the theme. I like individualistic personalities like her and I think that Courtney Barnett comes closest with her witty lyrics and her speech-like/declamatory vocal performance à la Dylan. So my nomination will be: I didn't manage to finish all comments on time but I promise that I will do my best in this final round. |

^ Thanks Cristi, nothing was broken, but I guessed you had missed it...
May I advise you to never follow advice? Anyway, lucky you, you already have a vote!

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

I noticed when going through the nominations that I did miss commenting on a couple of the entries (that were chosen *hangs head in shame*). I will listen to them in the am before going on to listening to all of the nominations again a second time. Please forgive my being remiss.

We're waiting for JD's final nomination and we're good to go, just 11 participants, have I missed anyone?

Here's a playlist. I will add JD's nominee when it is known.
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-zzvl_w6Fx44jMWPRT3W0NdmLyYSQ7ZU I had to search out a video for Ustmamo since the one Lorenzo put up does not play mor me. Let me know if it's not the same. And let me know if any do not play outside the U.S. I also used Nickie's second posting for Heather Nova because the first did not play for Cristi. |

And my first takes on latecomer Ronstein and a couple of additions that I'd somehow missed.
Ronstein: Arimea
“The Circus” Here is some in-your-face
with a spoken-y vocalist (at least at first), a bit of a sneering attitude
(which is good in this genre). Lead
guitar break halfway in. Plenty of
energy from all. Mike: The Breeders “Cannonball” Starts with a dispatch kinda “check check,”
then some whangles on guitar and bass. Once
the main melody kicked in, I now remember this song. I remember liking it especially the
rubber-band-y guitar effect.
Super-effected scratchy vocals interspersed with washy ones. Kees: Anna Calvi “Wish” Live
setting, here, driving, mostly solo electric guitar for quite some time, then band joins in (nice
[Fender] guitar!!!!) Sorta punky, but
then gets into some really interesting lead work and I like her more sung than
semi-spoken vocals. Gets into a kind of
wailing, thrashy, part. This one could
be a “grower.” |

I might have gone for The Runaways, except that its inclusion in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie gave it too much exposure. You can put me in for
Lee Aaron - Watcha Do To My Body Thanks. |
