Anyone who doesn't like ELP is probably not a fan of Prog Rock in general. I'd sooner listen to Alan "Fluff" Freeman's Rock Show or Pick of the Pops anytime. Alright? Not half! |

I used to religiously listen to Fluff's Saturday afternoon rock shows. I met him once back in the day and he was a genuinely nice bloke.

Fluff was a tremendously good sport too, especially here, when he sends himself up in a guest appearance with Radio Fab FM DJ's, Smashie & Nicey. Smashie & Nicey also made a spoof Alan Freeman ad for Deptford Draylons.

I suspect he was the main inspiration for Smashie & Nicey - possibly with a bit of DLT, Tony Blackburn and Noel Edmonds in the mix.

Your mention of Noel Edmonds has just reminded me of this Deal or No Deal clip from Dead Ringers. |

People tend to forget now that Edmonds was a very good radio presenter - I never really took to him on TV.

I loved hearing Noel on the radio too, but sadly, he's probably best-remembered now for Deal or No Deal, Noel's Crinkly Bottom and the godawful Mr. Blobby.

^And of course there was his Blobby theme park which was a financial disaster.

Next up is Galaxy-Lin, a little-known and short-lived Crossover Prog band with a Shocking Blue connection - both bands were founded by multi-talented guitarist and singer/songwriter Robbie van Leeuwen, so it's a band founded on good solid credentials with the added bonus of a simply sensational saxophonist.

Gamma: a little-known Dutch band about which little is known, but memorable for having a very strange singer.

Gamma have very wisely decided to drop their singer for this second and final album of instrumental Jazz-Rock. Darts Edited by Psychedelic Paul - September 12 2021 at 09:12 |

Coming soon.....
The Golden Earrings (as they were originally known) are probably best-known in England for their one and only hit single "Radar Love", but they're more than one-hit wonders across Europe as they've been around now for well over half a century with a string of thirty Top 10 singles in The Netherlands, as well as 25 studio albums to their credit. Amazingly, Golden Earring have had the same line-up from 1970 up until 2021 when the band broke up due to ill health. Golden Earring Albums
