Question for everyone: If you were to play a game on a cellular phone where you knocked off blocks on the screen with a bouncing ball, sort of as in the classic arcade game Breakout except that instead of instantly disappearing when hit the blocks would slowly start falling down and potentially collide with the ball or your bat as they're falling, would you prefer the blocks to sort of stack up on your bat and slowly slide off as if the bat were curved (illustration A) or instantly trigger a Game Over when colliding with the bat so that you would have to dodge them while also making sure you won't miss the ball (illustration B)?
|
the game over life is for proper gangstas |
it's also a lot easier to program when durnk

kill them. | I thought about throwing some eggs at them from my balcony but they'd probably figure out where they came from since I'm only on the first floorsome of these guys were even acting all mad against cars that were just trying to pass the public road that they were blocking, drunk as hell yelling at each other constantly in the middle of the fricking afternoon I should probably move |
it sounds like you like in america | like me like in america or like I like in america? |
Oh dear.
One of those likes should have been a live. You can choose which one to replace. |
ah, so you want to live me, like in America?
but uhh public alcoholism is certainly not an exclusively American thing, I can tell you that by now

is this the research stage for the long-awaited Succubus Station comeback album and tour?
it seems A is pretty convoluted but possibly fun, B looks like something I probably played in Armorgames.com at some point how about if the blocks start rotating according to the way they got hit? or making the blocks only disintegrate after like three ball hits while it's on the bat?

not that it counts for a quality sign (but to me it is) there is mellotron on the album)

It would probably be more fun if they rotated. Not sure how I would draw it since I'm using really low resolution graphics (each block is just 4x4 pixels). Also the physics would get a lot more complicated. Now the blocks just fall directly downwards and the ball is only thing that can bounce sideways.
I pretty much have version B already working, I just need to fix the touch controls and add some audio (possibly a Succubus Station flavoured soundtrack ;O).

"Don't Speak" is among the finest songs made of its era, pay attention to the drums, very crisp production. The snare sound is insane good. |
done now and I'm positively surprised, there's a lot of variation and detailed arrangements on the album, some of the tracks, especially the longer ones were pretty advanced structurally
I hear what you mean with the production, the song is a lot more raw on home speakers than I seem to remember from the radio... but yeah it's pretty clear throughout the album

that's not a lot of pixels k, how big will the whole screen be??
you should let it make a long, blisteringly loud slowed down glitch noise whenever two objects hit each other

45x80. I guess I could make it 90x160 or 180x320 but I kind of like it really blocky if you know what I mean. also ture. I'm going to generate the noises in real time once I learn how
