BYE-BYE !!!

I did not hear Trump suggest ingesting bleach or Lysol.  Did you, JD?  At what point in the video did Trump suggest drinking bleach? Send me the time stamp and I'm gone from Progarchives forever.

Trump was talking about ultraviolet light. Ultraviolet light from sunshine kills Covid on contact. The medical community has experimented with introducing a miniature ultraviolet light probes into the mouth, throat, and even lungs to kill viruses.  Doctors also insert an ultralight catheter into the vein to fight flu symptoms. Watch the video on the technology.
Then clearly you didn't listen to the end...and if you think I'm going transcribe this, you have another think coming. Go to the 20 second mark and listen over and over and over again. DISINFECTANT !!! This leads me to only two real possibilities here, you are either deaf or dumb, and I really don't believe you are dumb. You must just have selective hearing. This makes any further discussion useless since you clearly can't acknowledge the TRUE FACTS as the are spoken from his tiny pie hole.

Ultraviolet light is a DISINFECTANT!!!  Ultrtaviolet light kills viruses on contact. Immediately.

What do you have in your ears, JD?  Did you not hear Trump talk about ultraviolet light as an experimental disinfectant?
How come the media reported Bleach, when Trump never once said Bleach?  The media lied. And you are so delusional that you believe that Trump was talking about bleach when Trump clearly said, Ultraviolet Light.  Tell you what, JD. I'll give you another chance to send me from Progarchive forever. If you can prove that Ultraviolet Light cannot be used as a Disinfectant, than I'll leave Progarchives forever.  Run along now.

I was wrong...you are dumb. He clearly said "and then I see the dissinfectant..." a clear indication that he is now talking about something else. He then suggests 'By injecting'. I have no doubt you'll put a spin on that as well. But really, do us all a favour, just keep your word and go.

Ultraviolet light is a disinfectant. Trump never said Bleach, Lysol, Soap,  The only disinfectant Trump mentions by name is Ultraviolet Light.  And yes, ultraviolet light is inserted into the vein.  I just posted a video of ultraviolet light being inserted in a vein...to kill flu viruses.

Even though Trump never said bleach, you are convinced that he meant bleach or some other caustic liquid. That's what you wanted to hear JD. You suffer from cognitive dissonance.  You believe that a man who makes billions, stars on the biggest TV show for years, and becomes President is stupid enough to inject bleach or swallow bleach?  You really do believe that, because if you did not believe that your little world would crumble before objective reality.

I did not vote for Trump. I said so on this Thread 4 years ago.  I voted for Jill Stein. I'm am not a republican. I dislike the GOP intensely. I'm not defending Trump. I am defending Objective Reality. If you get your way, JD,  people will be condemned, prosecuted, and thrown into Prison for THINGS YOU THOUGHT THEY MEANT, BUT DID NOT SAY.  I defend innocent until proven guilty.  The things I love are fading fast. The world you adore, where people will be incarcerated for disagreeing with the Government is on the doorstep, knocking down the door.  You root for the winning team. But make no mistake. "It's a big club and you ain't in it."

Unless someone proves Trump suggested ingesting bleach, or JD proves that Ultraviolet Light is NOT a disinfectant, I'll be back next week. I got to don my face shield, gloves, N-95 mask, and gown and go to work at the hospital, where a robot roams the hospital halls at night disinfecting everything with ultraviolet light.

It's only in your world Cindy that there is a marked difference between saying Lysol/bleach and disinfectant, as if one is safe to ingest and the other is not. Poison control centers were overrun with calls the same night that Trump came up with his brain storm, with people downing everything from bleach to hand sanitizer. After all the BS that you've bombarded this thread with, it's not hard to imagine you doing the same. That's an honest to God opinion, sad to say, not a putdown.

Funny how things change.  Now that the radical left is entirely mainstream and even "establishment" - well, don't you dare question them!  LMAO.

Well the extreme right was in charge for so long and was an unmitigated disaster, so it's about time for a little mainstream left-wing extremism.

Of course now the antivaxer anti-abortion people are screaming "My body, my choice!".   Plenty of irony to go around.

"for so long..." - Well, let's get real, it was only one term.  Us conservatives had to put up with the Obama/Biden team for double that length.

"...unmitigated disaster..." - Matter of perspective.  I didn't think Trump's term was an unmitigated disaster.  I actually thought he did a fairly decent job, policy-wise.  I agreed with several of his policies.  I did not vote for him in 2016, but I did in 2020, based purely on his performance from 2016-2020.  Do I think Trump's demeanor is Presidential material?  No.  Does he act like a clown/buffoon on a frequent basis?  Yes.

But there were plenty of things about Trump I liked.  I like that he doesn't give a rip about "political correctness" and just says what he thinks.  I actually found that refreshing.  I like that Trump isn't afraid to talk to the media - in that regard, it's something his successor could learn a lesson from.  I also like that Trump didn't hold back when he called the media out as "fake" (although this is a far more complex matter than simply shouting "fake news!") ...and of course Trump was plenty guilty himself of using the media to his advantage when he could.  I 100% agree with Trump that America's interests should come first, and be of greater priority than any worries about the interests of other countries.  (I would expect the same of any country's policies, and find it baffling that any American would be against an 'America First' stance.)  I like that Trump is patriotic - a trait in short supply in this country.  I like that Trump had zero regard for globalist/internationalist organizations, and appreciated that he told the ICC they did not have any jurisdiction or authority over Americans.  I had no problem at all with Trump withdrawing our presence and funding from the Paris Climate Accord.  I was 100% on-board with his de-regulation policies, and 100% on-board with his efforts to increase domestic production.  I approved of Trump renegotiating (or attempting to, anyway) trade deals with other countries that are imbalanced in their favor.  I thought his tweets were comic gold and I appreciated the transparency, even if it was sometimes bizarre.

All that said, there were also things Trump did that I disapproved of.  Not holding the Saud king's feet to the fire on the Khashoggi killing was definitely one.

Meanwhile, and during Trump's election and tenure, I found the cheating from the DNC during the election (of which Wasserman-Schultz had to consequently resign) sad, and even more pathetic was Sanders' rolling over and taking it, backing the team that cheated against him - not that I really expected any backbone from Sanders anyway - but it was still pathetic.

I found the attempted crucifixion of Kavanaugh by the Democrats revolting.  The whole "Russian Collusion" thing was also pretty sad.  The impeachment was a farce.  I could go on and on.  The Democrats thwarted or tried to thwart Trump at every single turn.  There was zero "bipartisan" efforts from the left.  They hated him - and still do.  Granted, he gave them plenty of reason to.  His policies were in direct contradiction to the left's "vision" of America.  So I get it.  But to hear Biden or Pelosi complain about a lack of support from Republicans is laughably disingenuous and hypocritical.

Regardless of all this, and regardless our differing opinions about politics and politicians, what I find most disturbing about American politics and socio-political "culture wars" - which goes above and beyond any political party or figurehead - is the seemingly relentless demand for conformity of thought.  Less disturbing (but still irritating) is the way that conformity of thought plays out in day-to-day discussions and communications, like we are engaged in right now on a prog-rock forum, of all places.

I don't expect anyone here to think like me.  I want people to think for themselves, and not just parrot what comes out of their media filter.  I'm tired of the so-called "journalists" trying to shape our thoughts instead of simply informing us of facts.  Everyone seems to have some sort of agenda to make people think a certain way - both sides are guilty of this.  And the easy stereotyping is childish.  Not every Trump supporter is some redneck rube Q-anon believer.  Not every Biden supporter is an entitlement-hungry big-government socialist or communist subversive.

I just wish people would think for themselves, and come to their own conclusions about things... and allow me to think for myself, come to my own conclusions, and quit trying to manipulate me to think a certain way, or belittle me if I don't think like them.

I would humbly recommend to anyone interested, the two very excellent books by Jacques Ellul: "The Technological Society," and "Propaganda: The Formation of Men's Attitudes."  The former was written in 1954, the latter in 1962 - but both are entirely pertinent to understanding today's world, in my opinion.

UV light is a disinfectant, what’s so hard to grasp about that?  My water filter is carbon block as well as UV light.

In that video Trump talked about UV light, if the media turned it into something else, who’s to blame?

OK you're saying some of these haven't even contracted Covid, but numbers you don't have and can't have. Same issue anyway for people who developed symptoms of myocarditis or anything else after vaccination.

I know it's at least 85%.
That looks like a pretty ridiculous statement. You know what it takes to nail down such a number in a scientifically acceptable way? And even then there's uncertainty. Neither for this one nor for your 50% myocarditis mortality statement I can find anything. And as said before, not only the vaccine, also Covid raises the chances of having myocarditis.

Here is my County Covid Website
https://www.tarrantcounty.com/en/public-health/disease-control---prevention/COVID-19.html

If you click on the site, after a few second wait...Charts will pop up. The Chart on the Left is a history of Covid-19 cases by week. The Chart on the right is Deaths by week.

If you click on death weeks, you'll see the total deaths per week. Click on the chart. Each week gives detailed data.  Most weeks document the number of deaths with underlying comorbidities (underlying health conditions). Click on as many as you wish. Than you do the math. For example the Week ending January 23, 2021 had 167 underlying health conditions out of 195 deaths. That's 85.6% of covid deaths with a comorbidity.  The week ending September 25, 2021 had 52 underlying health conditions out of 55. That's 94.5%.

I'll stand by my 85% Covid deaths with comorbidities. If you can disprove that...please do.  Again, I appreciate your intelligent discussion, point of view, and debate.  At worst, we can agree to disagree.

OK fair enough. I didn't know that any health condition qualifies as "comorbidity". Obviously many people have such conditions, therefore percentages ought to be high (of course higher in Covid deaths than in the general public, that's nothing new - and doesn't mean that anywhere near 85% of registered Covid deaths in fact died for other reasons).

I was exaggerating of course, and when I spoke of right wing administrations I meant in my lifetime the preponderance of conservative presidents as Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush 1 & 2, and Trump.   In that time we've had four Dems & six Reps so there's little doubt the U.S. is a conservative leaning voting base interspersed with a strong progressive tradition, and clearly conservative causes were and are supported in Washington with vigor.   Let's be real.

As for Trump specifically, I think he was the disaster more than his time in office.   His "America first, the news is all fake, immigrants from non-English speaking countries are criminals" policies were no surprise.   It was when he began to lose the race for a second term that he became a dangerous liability and his arrested development became more clear.   Who a president is matters, and can be as significant as his policies.   As for Kavanaugh you'll get no sympathy from me--  the real problem with his nomination was that even if the allegations were proven true I suspect most Trump allies in DC & supporters around the country would've been fine with having exactly that.   The question is: Should someone who drank heavily and may have assaulted a young woman when he was in his twenties hold the highest judicial job in the country ?

I agree independent thinking is very important and fairly uncommon, and all sides feel they're better at it than others.   It is also true both conservative & progressive politics can reveal authoritarian tendencies in the right climate.   Sometimes it seems it's not so much about politics as it is about the urgent desire to be right .

^ Well put.
I'm fairly open minded politically and have a lot of respect for what's left of intelligent conservatives and certain republicans in the local political scene, but I do think trump was a disaster for the US, not so much for his policies as for his rhetoric and words which will have a corrosive effect for decades to come.

Ultimately he is the worst thing that ever happened to the republican party and conservative politics, much less the damage he did to this countries' respect for law and order and the orderly process of a democratic republic. He is the worst thing to happen to the US in my lifetime.

God bless the republicans who have the guts, courage and moral fortitude to stand up to him and call him out for what he is, particularly Adan Kinzinger, William Weld and Mitt Romney

I think it's a disaster for how we look at the Republican party now, as opposed to a glance back at the old Reagan/Bush days. The party is still very powerful and I think that they will swing back into power in some form in 2022/24, be it Senate majority or the presidency itself. And the Trump rhetoric will carry on for decades in some form or another too.

Much important information coming out this week--   it looks like Trump and his people decided that attempting a real coup would not work.

Let's just go over that again:  Trump and his treason party realized a coup wouldn't work and might even put them in legal jeopardy.

Republican voters:  Get out now, your Party will bring you down in treasonous disgrace.   Show some courage and do the right thing for yourselves and our nation.

Hmm. Could Trump pardon himself after seizing power? I believe that he thought so. LOL

Worth checking out. Many, a great many people in my country have taken the Western(ized) news related to this for granted. I didn't. Do I take this "Chinese Perspective" for granted? Of course, not. I'm very well aware that any news should be questioned, and thinking that you "know" something by being fed by the media is a fallacy.

Yes, only a fool would argue against the media being biased, either the left or right wing media outlets. We have to take everything with a grain of salt.

Where are our conservative members who had been joining this conversation?   No longer interested in discussing the treason of your leaders?   Stopped wanting to chat about the criminals the Republican party continues to not only support but gleefully endorse?   The appalling actions of what has revealed itself to be a movement of totalitarians who'd like to see Trump and his endorsees stay in office for life?

Is there anybody out there ... ?

The Empire Strikes Back? The Trump machine is gearing up for a full assault in 2024. And with Biden's debacles and inflation soaring, it may well be another 4 years of Republicans sh*tting on the constitution. I just hope that this country can survive it.

I'm here, and happy to talk politics as long as it remains civil... sometimes political conversations devolve into insults and/or personal attacks, and I'd lose interest if that happened.

Plus, I don't like labels.  While I did vote for Trump in 2020, I didn't vote for him in 2016, and I:

a)  Don't really consider Trump a "conservative."

b)  Don't consider myself a "conservative" or "Republican" either.  My views about politics are probably closer related to Libertarian ideas, or probably more accurately, Anarchist to some degree.  I dislike government in general, and think there should be a lot less of it.  I think the US Constitution has served the country well, generally speaking, but I don't think the Constitution is the "end all, be all" and am not certain it is sufficient to serve the country as it currently exists.

c) Think our government is rife with corruption on both sides of the aisle, and in the last couple of decades at least exists only to perpetuate a broken system for the sole purpose of amassing profit and power.

d) Think that the American people (myself included) find it easy to blame government for the ills of society, when in fact the American people (myself included) are really not that... governable, and are also plenty responsible for perpetuating these various "ills."

Anyway, I'm up for discussion.  I think your language about "treason" and "a movement of totalitarians" is a bit overblown, as is some of the language I've seen in the news about the so-called "insurrection."  I don't see this as much different than what I've witnessed at leftist "protests" - as soon as a protest turns violent, and people get shot, or buildings are set on fire, or private property is looted, the leftist protesters say it was the doing of "bad actors" and not the real, peace-loving protesters.  And yes, Democrat politicians have sometimes "encouraged" it and participated in it.  It's never malicious or treasonous or reprehensible when leftists do it, but when probably the majority of the media outlets bend left (and hate Trump), and when Democrats (who also hate Trump) are in power, Trump is portrayed as the evil of evils and a wannabe Hitler.

There are plenty of things about Trump that I dislike - but I voted for him in 2020 because (as stated earlier) there were plenty of his policies and quirks that I approved of (and still do).

In my perfect and imaginary world, there would be a 2024 election boycott, and no one would vote for anyone.  Can you imagine how scared the fops and corrupt politicians (Republican and Democrat) would then be?  All their efforts to keep the greater society divided and at each other's throats would've failed, and they'd realize they no longer have the consent of the people to govern them, and maybe they'd get their collective sh*t together and make some decisions which actually helped people instead of decisions made to line their own pockets and keep themselves in power.

But I'm not holding my breath for that one.

Edited to add: Also, while I enjoy talking politics, it's certainly not why I come to this forum, and I'm not an "activist" about anything.  I'm an "inactivist" LOL.  The typical "hot button" issues that people like to argue about don't interest me much.  Abortion, racism, immigration, etc. - blah blah blah (to quote that climate-change advocate kid Greta).  Just doesn't interest me.

My biggest complaint about American socio-politics (and I suppose it isn't just an "American" issue, but an international one) is the demand for conformity of thought, and the various coercive, manipulative attempts by government, media, academia, and even just individual citizens to try to shape my thinking.  The whole vaccine-mandate thing is a perfect example.  I don't want the vaccine.  That doesn't make me "anti-vax" (I've not just visited, but resided for multiple years in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe over the decades, and been vaccinated from here to eternity and never had any problem with it.)  In my later years, I've developed a healthy skepticism for the medical and pharmaceutical industry.  I never get flu shots.  So now we have a new and more dangerous (but still relatively harmless) flu called covid-19.  I'm not afraid of covid.  Nor am I afraid of the vaccine, but I don't yet have any real level of trust in it (to not have as-yet-unknown adverse long-term side-effects), nor do I see it as a very effective vaccine overall.  The fear-factor of this flu has been greatly overstated/promoted, and I see people wearing masks outside with no other human being around them for a radius of 200 feet.  What are they so afraid of?  Fresh air?  That's not "science," nor is it even common sense.  It's irrational fear, and it's the product of propaganda, not science.
