Anyone watch the TV series, Squid Game? If so, what did you think? It reminded me somewhat of the plot of the Saw movies.

I'm 3 episodes in and love it. Reminds me of the movie Parasite (about the social divide of those with money and, in Squid Game, those without and the lengths people will go to when under financial pressure). I like these recent Korean TV/movies (Parasite, Kingdom) and are a breath of fresh air after watching UK/US stuff. I only watch with subs, so in that sense it requires full attention, but I have read that some of the translations aren't that accurate - which is a shame as some of the context may be lost. In saying that I don't think it has been spoilt for me.

I'm really looking forward to how it plays out (my son has watched it and says it's really good). Oh yes, it's brutal and very violent at times too.
Oh, for the wings of any bird, other than a battery hen

I´ve only watched the first episode, and it´s definitely promising. A little Hunger Games and Battle Royal maybe, but again I´ve only watched the first episode, so I need to see more before I know what´s going on.

So what are your impressions, feedbacks about the show?  Is it worth watching? I still haven't watched it. Dunno where to find it. Anny suggestions? I don't have a Netflix account and don't want the bad quality and pirated voice-over.

I've still not got though the first episode and currently unlikely I will get any further as Netflix has got so many other things worth watching that I would rather conenctrate on (Ozark , Cowboy BeBop, Titans, Undercover, Archive 81 and so on) . As I said before , the main character is just too annoying to me.

Its pretty good. I"m not sure why it become an international phenomenon for a little while, but it was a fun show that is worth a watch but certainly not something to go out of your way to see IMO.

I really liked Squid Game even if I found sone mysteries predictable and would question some choices they made. I’m very used to watching shows and films with foreign-to-me languages using subtitles (don’t like dubs). It reminded me of Battle Royale, Alice in Borderland, and 20th Century Boys. I also found the pathetic protagonist annoying and stopped watching, but I came back to it and quickly got really into it. I had been spoiled somewhat too due to my eldest child watching it when it was new. That and Midnight Mass (flawed series I think but I love the character of the priest) were the two Netflix standouts of the time. My wife mostly watches Korean dramas, and she was not interested in Squid Game due to the lead, and she doesn’t like blood — I couldn’t get her to watch the Korean zombie historical drama Kingdom with me. I’m pleased to see such success. Korean shows, music, films have been so popular. Of course with the success of Parasite, and BTS. I like Parasite, BTS is not for me. I hope this gets more people comfortable with subtitles. I’ve loved subtitled things since watching Das Boot at the cinema as a kid.

I enjoyed it. I don't quite get why it was so popular, and it felt rather like somebody had decided to make an entire series out of a rejected Black Mirror episode, but it was still time well spent.
