When it comes to heavy metal, we generally get 4 minutes or less of shredding and a cloud of dust with the occasional ear bleeding. With this handful of songs, these bands stretch their chops out a bit. Which of these songs is your favorite?

All great but the Helloween track is probably the most adventurous. Iron Maiden second. War Pigs is great but overplayed.

I have to go with Metallica on this one. From one of my favourite (prog) metal albums ever!

Iron Maiden's Rime of The Ancient Mariner, back in the days before Bruce Dickinson took to the skies in his Maiden flight as an airline pilot.

Although I'm not in my comfort zone here, this is a nice list. Kreator is the only one I don't know. It is between War Pigs and Keeper of the Seven Keys for me, but this Helloween one touches the string of nostalgia a bit stronger, so Helloween it is.

Great poll, OP!
These are all really cool choices, but I have to go with the one originally titled "The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere". |
