Indeed, I'm hoping for a new Camel studio album. They were stunning live on the previous tour, so I see no reason the current line-up couldn't make another good studio record. It would be interesting to hear what Pete Jones could contribute

It can give a sort of new appreciation to the material it utilises. And of course some lives have significant differences from the originals. Magma would be a prime case for me where I can get a quite different experience listening to the lives than the originals, and sometimes the lives will outshine the originals for me. In some cases I grew bored with the original (say, grew stale), but then upon hearing a live version the music sounded fresh to me and I gained new appreciation for the material. |

I am a rarity in that I prefer later Camel albums to the 70’s stuff.

I feel conflicted if I should listen to The Single Factor at all. There is a couple of tracks with Genesis's first guitarist on it and one track with Peter Bardens on it which baits me. But then, everyone thinks it is their worst album.

why don't you listen to it and see for yourself how good or how bad it is? |

Although The Single Factor is my least favourite Camel album, it's still a decent 3-star album and well-worth a listen in my opinion. Selva (from The Single Factor) |

The Single Factor is definitely their poppiest so if you have a problem with Camel doing pop it's probably the worst choice. I tend to like when prog bands do pop so I like that album, though it is my least favourite by Camel. Note several members of Alan Parsons Project are also present and one track, "Heroes", sounds more like APP than Camel! I think they improved dramatically with the follow up Stationary Traveller.

It depends... I almost wish more that Pink Floyd would release a live album (or even better... and more difficult... video) from their animals tour than a new studio album (both of which seem just about as unlikely, though). |

I don't think there's one camel album under three stars. Maybe that's just me because I can think of at least one Pink Floyd album under three stars.

I hope you don't get the hump with The Single Factor album. I think "Sasquatch" will help quash any rumours that it's not a good album, otherwise I've just put my Big Foot in it. |

"Running out of Camel" sounds like something from Monty Python.

So I heard most of the Single Factor, and disliked everything except for Heroes, Sasquatch, and also Selva.

I think it might be weaker than I Can See Your House From Here, because it trends more low than ICSYHFH. However, there are bad Camel songs from those albums like Who We Are, Your Love is Stranger than Mine, Neon Magic, and also You Are The One, but nothing is worse than Remote Romance. Seriously, these are the geniuses behind classics like Lady Fantasy, A Song Within a Song, and well... ICE!!!! There is nothing REMOTEly interesting in that trainwreck of a song. while The Single Factor is weaker in terms of songs, it at least did no have no remote romance. I heard some of Dust and Dreams, and it sounded better than those two weak albums. Do not listen to those two albums if you are just a guy wanting to hear Camel. On my rating scale, those two albums are collectors/fans only. The 2-4 albums are Essential. The first one is Excellent, because it does not feel essential, but also as awesome as it's successors. I feel to listen to everything except for ICSYHFH and TSF.

What’s up don’t fear an end to Camel. Check out bands like Mirage, Greenslade, Supply Demand & Curve, Maelstrom etc. This is the archives, search and you will be rewarded, now go forth, consume till you can feast no more.

How about A Heart's Desire/End Peace? I think it's a gorgeous piece of music, but other than that plus Heroes and Sasquatch it's a very sub par album. From the later output Rajaz and A Nod and a Wink are fantastic. You should check them out, and if you like them, also Harbour of Tears.
