Excellent piece about what ideas and fears many of the insurrectionists have in common. Half of the people arrested so far are from demographically Blue communities, have families, and jobs --

Okay, I've read some ignorant revisionist swill before on this thread, but you sir have captured that abject inanity and distilled it in two sentences. I suggest you watch the police officers who were attacked give their testimony about the January 6 Insurrection -- it was horrifying, it was un-American, and it was incited by the loser of a fair and free election, a fraudulent grifting buffoon who sought to overturn the will of the people.
Insurrectionists were actually hunting for congressmen and Vice President Pence in the halls of the Capitol Building. That you would defend such action speaks to me of someone without a shred of decency or knowledge of the U.S. Constitution.

Let's talk about the current folks in power...
Which promises will Biden and Democrats keep? 1. $15 minimum wage 2. Medicare for All 3. $50,000 Student Loan Forgiveness
With Vice President Kamala Harris casting tie breaking votes, the Democrats own majorities in House and Senate. Plus Biden is president.
The Democrats haven't even voted on the Three major campaign promises. I predict the Democrats will kick the can down the road. The Dems will blame the Republicans once GOP wins back the House and Senate after the midterms. That said, The Republicans play the same game. The Republicans promised to end Obama care and John McCain voted against his fellow Republicans.
Progressives like AOC make strongly worded tweets supporting issues like $15 minimum wage...meanwhile AOC's Squad won't bring it up on the House Floor. After midterms, when GOP wins back House, AOC's Squad will bring the issue up on the House Floor. They may even vote on the three major issues, once there is NO way to win.
As a Senator, Biden voted for Afghanistan war. President Biden moved the end of the Afghanistan War from May 2021 to September 11, 2021. I actually believe Biden may keep his word. It's a coin flip. However, this week found America increase bombing Afghanistan. If the war ends, I predict it will end like Viet Nam. Afghanistan will fall to the Taliban faster than you can say lickety-split.
Will Biden tell Saudi Arabia to back off Yemen War? Or will Biden continue supplying Saudi Arabia with weapons to bomb Yemen civilians to smithereens? I predict smithereens.

^ The US leaving Vietnam was the best thing that could've happened, for both countries. Further, the Taliban does not want a Socialist Republic. That said, I wouldn't be too surprised if the Taliban is eventually considered a legitimate government.

You're questions and posts are always loaded Cindy, so I'd rather talk about why a traitor like Trump is not in jail.

Self Defense?? The cops were executing a NO KNOCK warrant for a guy they already had in custody! They shouldn't have even been there. It was the guy they murdered that was defending "HIMSELF". Get your information straight.

I don't believe the few right-wingers on here are being honest about their representation of the BLM protests. Or at the very least, they either didn't go far enough with their research or only listen to/read right wing media outlets. What is sorely missing from their arguments is that the majority of the BLM protests were peaceful. They instead are focusing on percentages of incidents that were in the single digits and using whataboutisms to deflect from the uncomfortable fact that we witnessed an attempted coup based on a grandiose lie, forever staining our democracy. It is indeed unfortunate that violence and damage happens at any protest, but not even mentioning the context of said protests is disingenuous at best.

I think that not enough thought goes into what sparked off the BLM movement. George Floyd was not the first black man killed on camera by Cops. Or even the tenth. There have been over a hundred. What else is left for blacks to do. And systemic racism is not understood. It's not the KKK overt type of racism. It's the knee jerk reaction of someone who immediately thinks that the black person killed was the cause of his own death before even knowing the facts of the killing.

Thanks for bringing this up. The several Black Lives Matter events that took place in Memphis and in the surrounding suburbs went down without an incident. Ironically enough, this is an area known for its violence. It was especially heartening to see events in a local suburban park where older white people sat in folding chairs and listened to young people deliver articulate speeches about how their lives are in danger. A few totally relaxed police officers stood around talking to each other. You would never see this on the news because the news is into fear mongering.

I find it incredibly sad that the media blames Biden for exiting Afghanistan. The Afghan people deserve their country back.
The media loves war. The only time the media praised Trump was when he bombed Syria. Now, the Media blames Biden for leaving Afghanistan. Fox, CNN, and the others. I hope Biden pulls troops out of Syria and Iraq. If Biden does that...I will vote for him. However, I fear the Military-Industrial Complex and the media will pressure Biden to feed the war machine. Let's hope not.

| Well except that once we leave the taliban is going to come back in and start persecuting women and Christians. The women there have made so much progress socially and I would hate to see the Muslim extreamists come in and ruin all of that.

I don't ascribe to a Taliban way of life. But, I don't think the solution is America bombing women and children to smithereens. America bombs murdered thousands of Afghan women. Talking about abuse. Bottom line: USA should stop bombing and destroying foreign countries in the name of helping women or freeing folks. We should take care of our own country, and let the Afghan folks live their lives without American interference and murder.
