![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The 12th and final album from Marble Sheep, which comes as something of a blessed relief, as all of the songs were beginning to sound the same and where the idea seems to be to make as much noise as possible (as you'll hear in the song below) in true Stoner Rock fashion. ![]() Snake Girls I'm going to have a lie down now and listen to some soothing classical music from Tony Banks, which'll make a nice pleasant change from listening to the raucous sound of Marble Sheep. If you like to count sheep to get to sleep, then just make sure they're not Marble Sheep.

Thanks. I've just remembered to add Yonin Bayashi to the A-Z list at the top of the page nearly two years later. Better late than never though. ![]() Yonin Bayashi - Sora to Kumo (from the first album "Isshoku-Sokuhatsu (1974)) |

Some recent modern prog discoveries from the land of the rising sun:- I know the chances of me finding any of these obscure Japanese artists and albums down at my local record store are about as likely as a kamikaze pilot returning from a mission, so I'll Nippon over to Amazon and see if I can find them there.

^ I Love the first six albums you mentioned, having featured them all here earlier. Bi Kyo Ran and Bondage Fruit are new to me though, so I'll check them out too. Actually, I just remembered Bi Kyo Ran was one of the artists featured on the Prog Line channel, leaving Bondage Fruit as the only listed artist that's as inscrutable to me as a Japanese Geisha girl.
![]() I'm wondering about including Tomita's albums here too, considering he's Japan's best known electronica artist, although Ryuichi Sakamoto might have something to say about that.

Banzai! You know, I've been listening to so much Japanese music here since starting this thread that I'm beginning to wonder if I'm Turning Japanese. I really think so, and that disturbing thought is giving me a touch of The Vapors. Sayonara!

My guess is, Bondage Fruit won't be exactly your cup of tea. ![]() |

I noticed Bondage Fruit are listed as "Zeuhl" - whatever that is - and if they're not my cup of tea, I'll try Dennis Coffey or Hot Chocolate instead, and then Everyone's a Winner. ![]() |

You were right! Bondage Fruit weren't my cup of tea at all. I have a strong feeling that'll be the first and The Last Time I ever listen to a Zeuhl album. ![]() |

I'd say, Bondage Fruit II is maybe more like Avant-Prog. What can be considered Zeuhl, can be very diverse. If you could have the mood for giving it another try, I'll recommend an album which is very jazzy and like Zeuhl light: Xing Sa (F) - Creation De L’univers (2010) Edited by David_D - September 04 2022 at 04:16 |

Yes, Bondage Fruit definitely sounded like Avant Prog to my ears, which goes some way towards explaining why that particular fruit was a bit sour for my sweet taste buds. ![]() I'll take a look at some of the Japanese bands listed under Symphonic Prog & Neo Prog. I'm sure I'll find something more sweet and appealing to my tastes there.

Konichiwa! Before making a reckless banzai charge into the uncharted realms of Japanese Symphonic Prog & Neo Prog, now seems like a good time for an update on all of the weird and wonderful, classic Japanese psych albums featured here so far.

Thanks for the Yonin Bayashi recommendation! I've added him to my playlist above. I finally got around to listening to Yonin Bayashi two years and nine months later and I'm really loving his albums.
