Thomisme has several good old 1st generation prog ingredients (if this is true you'll recognize them easily !), also quite a few from later prog, also "house" sonic ingredients. 

Every piece is derived from recordings of free jam sessions back in 2004 to early 2005 two very special "groundbreaking" years (mostly with drummer/keyboardist Léo, sometimes trumpettist Nicolas) , as we'd never recorded as much jammed music as then !

It is nice to spot ingredients inherited from earlier prog bands, as evidences of spiritual filiation !

Only if I take ingredients separately I can say this (famous) prog guitar player/bassist/drummer plays this special kind of pattern on this / that piece... But this does only occur now and then (the end of Téléphonie, Plateau, Humus... Anywhere else !?). Not that important provided I can trip on wonderful music for a low price... Wink

This indeed. Ah those pure-hearted musicians bloated with faith in their sacro-saint mission to go around the World and go preach the Real Good Music (doesn't humanity needs that very band), playing hundreds of concerts every year, at all costs...

Countless bands sound so much better live indeed (Genesis' 70s, Tuvalu, and that unique Euzen's Metamorph 2015 live... No other live recording of that song I've heard on the Net, or of any other piece by them, comes close to that one in terms of magnificence, the related studio track was far from "promising" anything like that) ... The opposite is also true : album version much better than any live recording (Led Zep LOL)

Up until now here jam sessions have been the promise and bandcamp tracks the dream-come-true,
 Aspirant or Vindicatif being examples of (somewhat edited) promising jam sessions and the bandcamp version meant to offer more.

I really, really enjoyed this. I love the bass work throughout and the eerie synth sounds on some of the tracks. This will definitely sit somewhere in my Top 10 for the year. Thumbs Up

Wow man this comment means a lot, given my very fondness for those renderings of yours I've celebrated ! 

You must have recognized Roland synth patches there. 

VSTs, templates and overall DAW settings that would easily defeat awkwardness are like the Grail, but it is also fun trying and searching what would fit better. Many sonic voyages ahead anyway !

I don't believe I recognized the Roland synth patches. There was a lot going on through a first listen so I probably missed them. I think I have some in my G-Force VSM VST. I believe it has the RS202 and another one. But I've never used them. I've been using a lot of Xpand!2 (this came with my MIDI keyboard) and u-he's Podolski lately.

Every time I open my DAW after not using it for months, it feels like trying to relearn how to ride a bike while balancing a front-load washing machine on my head!

Poojer at 1'47 was the first patch that made me think of Roland and even more so in Lexicographic Lint, the space xylophone just before 3'32, ...so Roland may have nothing to offer that you don't already own !

I had to go back and listen to those again. I see what you mean. I can't recall what I used on Poojer (I'm not using that DAW anymore) but I'm sure Lexicographic Lint was from sample wav files I acquired from Computer Music magazine. My DAW back then didn't have VST capabilities.

I'm getting closer to completing this album. It's a strange thing to be using as inspiration, but the bizarre lyrics it's given me have been a good chuckle. I'm expecting to have it finished by the end of September. No long "epics" on this one. It's also more chaotic. The tentative title is Word Soup.
