Restoration by Haken is the first to come to my mind. Great EP, End with a big 19 minute Epic.

Just wondering - what is the definition of an EP and why do you want to listen to them?

Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies

Alice in Chains are a great band. I think they are one of the best of the 90's seattle bands(and my personal favorite behind Pearl Jam). However, when did they become a prog band? I'm not familiar with this ep but nothing else they have done has struck me as prog.

Anyway, I agree with the person who mentioned Toxic Smile. That ep is indeed very good. I like how they mix prog with prog metal.

I'm wondering why only EP's and not full-length LP's, but seeing as you've asked, you could try The Imperial Hotel (1975) by  the Symphonic Prog band, England. The EP is about 20 minutes long and it's all one song (in the words of Neil Young). Smile

Then again, you might like to Open your heart to this lovely 20-minute-long song by Jon Anderson Heart

That Genesis EP is massively overlooked and came out after 'Wind and Wuthering'  - good to see a mention of 'The Last Nightingale' as well

A lot of times EPs are just glorified singles from the early prog years

EPS that are generally worth the time come from Porcupine Tree, Cardiacs, Univers Zero

Check out the top prog EPs from the Rate Your Music chart

Lots of good stuff there

I want to listen some shorter releases with less tracks!

And I know that the meaning of EP nowadays is a bit fluid - many EPs have the same lenght of some LPs in the past (the wonderful albums of Gentle Giant comes to my mind right now).

And I think sometimes the EPs are a bit neglected in favour of the full lenghts. Anyways, I see some very good recommendations here!

Jethro Tull - Life is a Long Song. Fabulous EP that made up a good part of the subsequent compilation Living in the Past:

1. Life is a Long Song
2. Dr. Bogenbroom
3. Nursie
4. Up the 'Pool
5. From Later

to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

The first three releases by A Formal Horse were EPs. God, I love this band

A Formal Horse - https://aformalhorse.bandcamp.com/album/a-formal-horse
Morning Jigsaw - https://aformalhorse.bandcamp.com/album/morning-jigsaw
Made In Chelsea - https://aformalhorse.bandcamp.com/album/made-in-chelsea

The term E.P. is a bit fluid to say the least, and it does crossover with 'mini-album'.

In my thinking

E.P. = 3-6 tracks, and/or playing time 5-15 minutes (in the old days however much you could squeeze onto a 7" slab of vinyl)

Mini-album = 5-7 tracks, and/or a playing time of 15-30 minutes
