In honor of the long 4-day holiday weekend here in the States, I have created a special holiday theme poll for your listening pleasure (or maybe just my listening pleasure). 25 songs to celebrate our 1776 Brexit. At any rate, give these songs a listen, choose your three favorites, and discuss what you like and what you don't. Hopefully, you will set off some internal fireworks while listening to some of these songs.
Here is a link to a YouTube playlist Let Freedom Sing! - YouTube And if I remember how to do this, here is an embedded YouTube playlist .

Sadly, I only know the Darryl Way song. Would like to mention The Sweet's 4th of July (glam rock).

Once again I am left disappointed with the participation in my polls. Oh well. I guess I go back on hiatus.

It is time-consuming listening through so many choices, and your series is competing with the Interactive Polls in a way, and for myself I rarely have any comments to make which I think would add value to discussion. I have discovered some good-for-me music due to your polls, but only fully participated in maybe one or two of them (listened to all, voted for three, and commented on those as I recall, but I still didn't feel it added to any conversation). I know it's a lot of work making such polls and the time that goes into responding to people's posts.
Maybe do some shorter ones that just focus on your particular faves on a theme? At least that way it's not a lot of effort, and it's easier for others to listen through, and so it might not matter if there isn't much response, and that can make it easier to focus your conversations with the people who respond more easily. Your series of course, and follow your bliss. For me too, this coming out on Canada Day made me feel a little more negative. I'm not one for nationalism or flag waving, but like a great many Canadians, this year I decided not to observe Canada Day (certainly not celebrations or be happy about it) due to the graves found at the residential schools for aboriginal peoples (expect that would have made your news). Like Remembrance Day, it felt more like a day of mourning than any kind of celebration. You don't see nearly as many flags here as you would in much of the US, but what Canadian flags I did notice were at half-mast. Both of our counties have had troubled histories with how natives have been treated, with racial issues/ discrimination etc. 1776 wasn't the year of freedom for all the slaves. That said, I will vote for three: Elephant9 - Freedom's Children Anekdoten - In Freedom Krobak - Marching for the Freedom We Lost And to mention another in my collection with a different sort of take (first that came to my mind): Art Bears - Freedom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHoOIbVROig Edited by Logan - July 06 2021 at 00:08 |

Hi,
My "word" does not use the term ... "freedom" ... it uses MOZAMBIQUE ... as done by AD2. It may not sound/be as important, however, it was merely months right after that the country finally got its independence from Portugal. I have always thought that it was one of the strongest symbols of freedom I have ever heard and seen, since Maria Betania's Carcara, in Brazil in the mid 60's ... and sometimes it is hard to explain to people what the strength and meaning in these things are. But remember, that I am a child of a system in a country that was run in a fascist way, that tried to scare and hurt everyone it could, although it appears that it did not do so with the carnal instincts of the neighbor that went after artists and writers to shut people's "representatives" up, and maintain its politics for many years after its civil war, although by that time, they were a bit more relaxed about the artistry of the country's folks, though it still controlled film, theater and a lot of writers. But, by then, many of them were hidden and publishing elsewhere which was embarrassing the mother country, of course! Freedom, to me, is a lot more than just a thought! It is real!

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
