I'm fairly new to these guys. I thought Schlagenheim was pretty good, but not something I felt compelled to visit again in any great hurry. This one feels like a step up. Pretty cool stuff.

Electric Wizard - Dopethrone

There's a couple I'd love to hear your thoughts about

Ha, well the first one was a recommendation from a friend that I postponed for too long, but it positively surprised me, I was never into his indie folk stuff, mainly just by virtue of it being indie folk, but this one has some rich electronic production and nice melodies. I'm thinking of working back to Age of Adz eventually... And Dopethrone was kinda disappointing, it kinda sounds like a ridiculously bass-boosted old school epic doom metal band with some nice driving moments but too much monotony throughout. I much prefer what Mainliner does with that kind of production tbh.

Brainiac - Hissing Prigs in Static Couture

It's a bit of a shame to hear that you're not in to Sufjan's folk revival material, but more importantly I agree with your views on his Ascension and found it a beautifully calm and fascinating take on his long running flirtations with electronica. Maybe give his early Enjoy Your Rabbit and his recent Lowell Brams collab Aporia some tries.

As to Dopethrone, I've always found them to be one of the key examples of a sort of epic stoner doom and would never accuse them of being overly uniform. Maybe try Come My Fanatics if you haven't? Still, I agree that Mainliner is an even greater project, if not entirely comparable with Dopethrone.

I'd also love to hear your thoughts on Brainiac as well as the new Lucy.
