The first of six polls to determine our favourite prog albums year by year from 1967 through to 2020. Thanks to Mortte for the inspiration to create this series of lists.

Mine are a bit obvious: 1967: 'Days of Future Passed' by The Moody Blues 1968: 'The Soft Machine' by [The] Soft Machine 1969: 'Ummagumma' by Pink Floyd Psych Paul, I have not heard any of your picks but I would definitely like to.

I've no idea who recorded "Lumpy Gravy" and "Uncle Meat", but I'll take a wild guess that they're both by Frank Zappa.

I almost chose "Days of Future Passed" for my 1967 choice too, but then I thought I'd go for something a bit more off-the-wall that not many people will have heard of, and I'm happy to say I have all three of my album choices in my CD collection. Here's a quick psychedelic taster from The Zodiac: Cosmic Sounds album.... Aries - The Fire Fighter Edited by Psychedelic Paul - May 05 2021 at 10:21 |

1967: The Doors - "Strange days"
1968: Pink Floyd - "Saucerful of secrets" 1969: King Crimson - "In the court of the Crimson King", but it was heartbreaking not to put "Ummagumma" here :(

I can think of few other artists who, at the time, would record an album that sounds like Lumpy Gravy: http://youtube.com/watch?v=uwyH9rAkugI

Yes, it's absolutely fine to include Proto-Prog albums in your choices (seeing as I did too). By the way, I'm looking forward to seeing whether or not Barbara Dennerlein is going to feature amongst your later 1980's & 90's favourites.
