I saw maybe five of these; Jackie Brown and Good Will Hunting were those that made an impression (in this order).

Haven't seen five of these. There are quite some bad films among the other 20... From this list I hesitate between Donnie Brasco and Boogie Nights - will go with the latter. I prefer by far Moshkito's list, but there are not many American films on it... My preferred American film from 1997 is Lost Highway, I think, but that was not such a popular film in box office terms. |
