(This is an attemt at a social sphere were/role play but also romantasize on delightfull prog and delightfull beverages in a tavern)

It have happend, at least to me a couple of times. Some prog songs gives me the spontanious feeling of having a pint in the hand. The mood for drinking for the pint. For some reason the situation also demands a wooden tavern and a gleeman/bard. B

This is a social space where one can have a liquid beverage of a sort (beer, cider, spiced warm wine). Are there songs or albums of prog nature that tickles your lust for a pint of ale (or cider).

Also the song is played by a gleeman and a band of merry men. This is not totaly in the mededival fare, the gleeman plays also mean electric guitar.

So this is the social space on PA were one can talk about favoured songs that atracts the spontanity of cheers and you apparently holds pint of ale/beer/cider or whatever the tavern/inn has to offer that fits the mood of that song.

My pick is certain Canterbury songs makes me want to toast with friends with beer. A jolly Caravan song some gritty Gentle Giant songs from Power and the Glory.

So the gleeman plays some mean Caravan and Gentle Giant with hes merry men.

I am arriving at the tavern on my ears i have the Boys in The Band by Gentle Giant, it makes me want to have a pint of regular lager but also hints at a fruity cherry flavoured beer. The gleeman calls out for attention, he plays an entire sett of Gentle Giant and i play some dice with friends.

Back in my drinking days, some 37 years ago, I can see myself cracking a cold one whenever Close to The Edge was on the platter. It was a staple summertime sitting by the pool kinda thing. Not sure if it elicited spontaneous feelings to drink, the two mostly just happened at the same time. Beer

Mmm sounds nice, i also belive champagne or cava works nice with Close to the Edge. Some alchohol free versions is also available. The bard/gleemen is now practising some fingerwork on their lutes, flutes and ducleimer and are ready to play Close to the Edge to the dancing crowd in the tavern. One might expect some flying shooes so take cover.

Strangely enough, I also recall that when my best friend and I used to play Backgammon, we would typically be drinking white wine, Soave Bolla or something along those lines. Creek parties were usually a 2-4...at least till it ran out then anything was game, worse case scenario...Southern Comfort SickDead
