Two great albums that I always considered similarly compelling and mysterious, so which of these two do the fellow forum users prefer? I bet there will be very few, if not even no 'I dislike both votes', while casting my vote for Genesis' sophomore studio album.

I heard the material from The Yes Album on Yessongs first so when I finally heard the album I found it slightly disappointing.  Trespass, on the other hand, is sublime and probably my second favourite after 'Selling England'

The Yes Album vs Nursery Cryme would be fairer. Yes were fully formed on The Yes Album whereas Genesis would need one more album to perfect their sound.

Yes .....there is nothing as good as Starship Trooper on Trespass which for me makes all the difference.
One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

I consider Trespass a little masterpiece, one of the best albums by Genesis.

I consider the Yes Album a good album, but not a great album.

So, Trespass.

I really can’t choose. Genesis is my fav band so whenever I hear any PG-era Genesis I get a big smile on my face. And this album was very important for prog. But so was TYA and it was in fact, in my opinion, even better in terms of genius compositions. Both we’re huge steps for respective band and made a huge impact on the prog scene. So I had to take the easy way out: love both equally

The Yes Album --Yes comes into its own with Howe---need only one more great guy--and will peak when Rick joins.
Tresspass --Genesis are not complete--they need 2 great guys:  Hackett and Collins.

Voted The Yes album

Yes. The Genesis album sees the band not yet reaching their potential, whereas with The Yes Album, the band is already there.
