Doug, your list is mostly 70's bands. Grow up! There is new talent on Earth. LOL

Yeah, kind of weird that a 19 year old guy would be stuck in a decade where even his parents were toddlers in. LOL

You could try...
Traffic - Traffic s/t, John Barleycorn Must Die, Low Spark of High Heeled Boys,
The Moody Blues - In Search of the Lost Chord, Seventh Sojourn, On the Threshold of a Dream
Big Big Train - Underfall Yard, English Electric 1 and 2
The Decemberists - The Crane Wife, Picaresque
Dire Straits - Love Over Gold, Dire Straits s/t

All great artists and albums, Greg, but for some reason Dire Straits never strikes me as upbeat. LOL

At the time the albums were released I was still in my Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Neil Young period. So yeah, Dire Straits...very upbeat and happy.
Well, you got me there. And Walk of Life was pretty saccharine, come to think if it.
This message was brought to you by a proud supporter of the Deep State.

Both of their studio lp's are fantastic... a band that never got it's due.
Guitar driven?....maybe,  but their forte was complex hook driven clever pop.
Thumbs Up

If you didn't know, three members of Jellyfish, less Andy, have a group called The Lickerish Quartet. They have recently released two EP's. It's as close as you get to that clever pop sound. Good stuff.
