Hi fellow prog heads

I've been around this site for many years now, but my old account became borked so I made a new one.  I'm a massive Floydian (and somewhat of an expert on their discography), but love all the psychedelia & prog that I grew up with from around 1967 to 1979. I have a massive digital music collection and am currently getting into more of the folk-prog stuff which passed me by in the day, especially Pentangle and Incredible String Band.

Welcome.... kind of! Have you ever heard Harmonium? If not, have fun! Their second album Les Cinq Saisons is a glorious progressive folk plunge with some serious psychedelic undertones! A must listen!

Not heard of them but thanks for the tip mate - I never tire of finding new stuff, as long as I can get into it that is... my tastes are eclectic but there are certain areas of prog that don't do it for me (for example much of the Canterbury scene, apart from Caravan).

Just a minor update - I've had another good go at trying to login on my old account, but with no success, so I'll stick with this one for now. I was never previously a huge poster on the forum anyway.

Welcome back. Pentangle and the ISB are the tops of folk prog but don't overlook the early Strawbs, early Fairport and, of course, Comus.

Welcome, also check out Faun and Offa Rex for more prog/folk that is recent.  You're on a great roll so far with ISB and Pentangle (and their related solo projects, btw).  You may also enjoy Fairport Convention and Pearls Before Swine from back in the day.

Linda Perhacs is my latest prog-folk discovery. 'Parallelograms' is a proper treat.

We appear to have very similar tastes in music. I love Parallelograms too and also Pentangle, Pink Floyd and anything psychedelic (obviously) as well as not being a big fan of Canterbury Scene music generally, apart from Caravan and later Soft Machine albums - the albums with proper titles and not just numbers for album titles.  Smile

Other more obscure artists worth seeking out from that late 60's early 70's psychedelic era I'd recommend include: Carolyn Hester Coalition, Comfortable Chair, Fifty Foot Hose, Jonna Gault & Her Symphonopop Scene, Kathy McCord, Lily & Maria, Marcia Strassman, Margo Guryan, Michele O'Malley, Ruth Copeland, and Sally Eaton.

That's a few more names to add to my 400+ list of psychedelic sixties artists. I collect them like other people collect stamps. Smile
