Let us today celebrate yet again the birthday of one of our esteemed artists on PA, and hopefully introduce some of you to some new music.

Bucky joined our throbbing forum in October 2005, and stayed until March 2014 without so much as posting a single syllable to inform the masses of his opinions on all things prog. This is a wee bit of a shame, as we shall find out in a little while.

The forum name, though, is also interesting. A true all-American hero cast from the same granite as other superheroes in the mould of Iron Man, Daredevil, and Donald Trump...erm.... he was born in 1917, and was a mate of that shield toting Avenger, Captain America, the very epitome of Apple Pie herodom. Here is his bio, notable for the fact that he was a part of The Howling Commandos fighting Red Skull’s force, or Joe Biden as he is known to the wider public Winter Soldier | Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki | Fandom

Our friend’s parents named him Jeffrey Sherman 69 years ago today in the caldron of post-war Americaland, and his signature is of real note, being a quote from that fine chappy who singlehandedly enabled Enterprise, Voyager, and Discovery to hop around the puniverse using wormholes, namely one Albert Einstein. "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds”. Actually, I’m with Bert here. I say the same thing to my bosses on a daily basis! Mind you, I am a little bit more reticent to say the same thing to Mrs General Laz when she points out the error of my ways, on account of the fact that she is, of course, a mighty mind and always right!

In spite of some serious non-compliance with the basic rule of forums, in that you are supposed to actually say something, we should still celebrate our friend, who listed his interests as music, films, and quantum mechanics, the latter being especially handy when deciding what particular complex time signature to place in one’s compositions. For Jeffrey is a founding member of Glass, and plays bass guitar and keyboard for the band listed here under Symphonic Prog GLASS discography and reviews Have a listen on Discogs to the title track of Emergence, the band’s last effort from 2018. Good stuff, and Mr Laz will explore their music more as a result Glass – Emergence (2018, CD) - Discogs

But that is not all. For our Jeff also records as Jeff Joad, named after the tragic hero of Grapes of Wrath. This stuff is about as far away from prog as you can get, being of the Blues variety. Take a listen to You’re Alive, which as of today has a mere 8 views on The Tube https://youtu.be/fk5d3hO-RjE Here is his Sadder Than Ever Book page, on which he covers Crosscut Saw Jeff Joad - Home | Facebook Woke up this morning, feeling the blues, and I’s a weeping, man.

So, happy birthday, Jeff! Keep that guitar crying, man!

Elsewhere in Progland, EatThatPhonebook, a Prog reviewer hereabouts, celebrates his 27th birthday. Felicitations, sir!

And another PR, Gooner, so he gets my vote as a long-standing Arsenal fan, is 50 today. Happy birthday, sir!

Well today, in Lazland professional news, I am extremely happy to report that the essential tools that I use for work have been slower than a typical snail attempting to climb Mount Everest, and I simply gave up early in order to concentrate on far more productive matters, namely who we should celebrate in the glorious Slimefest we call the PA Birthday Thread.

Early on, a theme called to me. It is one, in fact, that we could use on an almost daily basis, but given that it is 16th March, today seemed as good a day as any to properly celebrate, and find out about, that army of proggers who take the time to register with us, stay for no time at all, and completely disappear into the ether, never to be heard of again. Or so they thought!

So, PABT presents.....People Saying Nothing In Next To No Time At All. The qualification for this is that you must have visited the forum for less than one hour before completely disappearing.

First up, we have dlgladwin, a wonderfully eccentric loon who joined us on 8 March 2006 for all of one minute, and celebrates his 53rd birthday today. And now, all readers of this thread please prostrate yourself, or at least doff your cap. For Mr Gladwin self identifies as His Grace The Duke of Derby, and lists his occupation as a bogus aristocrat. He likes culture, society,  music, and mushrooms, and I get the impression that he must ingest a fair few of the magic variety in his spare time, bless him. His signature states “born to be hanged”. Well, let me inform you, son; impersonating the English Nobility is a very serious crime, at least worthy once upon a time of either the rope or at least deportation to Australia, dependant on how much m’learned lud had drunk the previous night. Unfortunately for our friend, he has got a minor detail rather wrong. There is an EARL of Derby, and Edward Stanley is presently the 19th incumbent, bless His Lordship Edward Stanley, 19th Earl of Derby - Wikipedia There is no such title as Duke of Derby. A lesson for us all here, methinks. If one is going to take the piss, at least get your titles right!

And what about Monteon, who joined our shockingly unhealthy throng in June 2005 and stayed for a mere hour, before obviously deciding that the prog masses were beyond curing? For Ignatio De Jesús Monteón Batalla is a physician celebrating his 50th special day today in Mexico. I should give him a call, because he is a consultant at the Tabbak Anti-Smoking Clinic, and would no doubt provide me with sterling advice on how to smoke in a far healthier manner than I do now. He will also provide any obese pie munchers amongst you with guidance on how to beat the flab. Google Translate

And what about our friend Lahaine? Our dearly departed chum probably is dearly departed at 83 years of age, but what about this signature? “Sometimes I like fishing, and in some girl finishing”. If you listen very carefully, you can hear the rumblings of the hordes of lovely wimmin rushing over the hills to wrap themselves around our Lothario. By the way, he gave his location as ew, and I can think of no better definition of this than the following link from our very good friends at Da Hood Yoof Dictionary Urban Dictionary: Ew

And how about our motor body repairs worker, Lynda? She celebrates her 55th birthday in Sault Ste. Marie, which is a lovely looking place in Ontario. Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario - Wikipedia Rather usefully for a music site, Lynda listed her interest as music, but rather uselessly for a music site, declined to share anything about said interest with the brethren. She joined in September 2009, took one look at the hairy assemblage for all of three minutes, and decided said throng was not to her taste.

And what do we make of Jewish Jake, excepting to surmise that his name is Jake and he is of the Semitic persuasion? Jake joined us for one minute in October 2007, and his signature, I believe, told us a lot about his impressions of the prog throng. “Insert pretentious comment here”. Well, Jake. There is nothing quite so pretentious as imagining that a pretentious comment such as this makes you any less pretentious than professional proper pretentious folk.

And lastly, on a serious note, I am afraid I must record the first instance on the thread of one of our beloved brethren who has passed away. It is a bit of a shame that Wayne Hovden, who would have been 67 today, had not spent more than three minutes with us in May 2008. He was unemployed when he joined, and listed his interests as music, girls, hunting, fishing, and, erm, girls. Regrettably, this extraordinarily healthy list of pastimes would appear to have taken its toll, and our friend passed away a mere 10 days ago Wayne Hovden Obituary - Death Notice and Service Information Let us hope that he Rests In Peace.

And last, but by no means least, we have a funky man, as pras666 modestly described himself in his signature for all of the one minute he was with us in November 2006. Funky Gibbon (here I make absolutely no excuse for gratuitously seeking any old reason to insert for you one of the 70’s better silly moments https://youtu.be/pXq8rELhUkw ) is 38 today, and judging by his Letsbesadtogetherbook, he really is a funky dude. Ladies, feast your peeps upon this hunk! Dani Prass | Facebook

Elsewhere, no present collabs to report today.

My friends. It is days such as this which make one long for the nirvana we call retirement in Dear Old Blighty. Pip Pip!

"Sometimes I like fishing, and in some girl finishing”. It's quite amazing to me how someone who only lasted a minute on PA would also last long enough to satisfy a women. Quite a bit of Attention Deficit Disorder noted in this bloke and the other past one minute members! LOL

"Sault Ste. Marie Supporting Documentation"

Missing from the WikiPages...all you need to know about Sault Ste. Marie.

1 - They have moose who refuse to follow the rules of the road and never cross at a corner.

2 - They are home to the biggest Nickle in the world, now the smallest denomination of currency produced in the country.

Thank you for supporting independently produced music

Thanks both. I love it when the research is expanded to learn new things and new music.

Nick, that Machines Dream track is, indeed, lovely. I especially love the Polish lyrics at the end.

Hopefully, JD’s post will lead to more visitors to what looks like a lovely area, and Nick’s post will lead to increased awareness of a really good band.

They had me hooked with the free download. That song was so good, I bought Black Science, and it was one of my favourite releases of that year (2017). The Revisionist History collection of the first two albums, as the band wanted them to be, is also quite marvellous. And I’m a great fan of their jazzy Improv album, which shows a very different side to the group.

Sometimes, personages do not come here to inform us of their thoughts on anything. Not prog (in fact, the vast majority of people who have registered with the site have bugger all to say about prog, from what I can make out), not music, not even to flog us something. Nope, some exceptionally kind members simply register on the site, spend a minute of their valuable time before naffing off into the ether, never to be heard from again, their only reason for registering to save us.

Yep. As most of you will know, there are a fair few of the throbbing throng we call PA members who need a wee bit of saving. I might add that this is especially important for prog fans. Bear with me here, because this is important. There you are, in your adult dotage, sitting in your reclining chair, glass of whiskey on the side table, pipe full of ready rub in your right hand, listening to the heavenly sound, and ignoring the protests of your grandchildren wondering just what that f**king racket is, of King Crimson. https://youtu.be/mJt0MNSDgdAHeavenly, yes?

Now you may well be thinking that this is the type of afterlife you can look forward to forever after you depart this veil of tears. An eternity of prog, booze, tobacco, and sex. Surely you deserve it? Well, my friends, not if you have been bad boys and girls. Not if you have breached those lockdown regulations. Not if you so much as peeped at one of those naughty websites, thinking that you were safe because the good lady (or man, of course) was out for a few hours.  Because, yes, The Almighty was watching. And you know what? This is what you will be doomed to listen to for all eternity if you are not redeemed. I submit to you your eternal fate. Envy and Eli in what is billed on SoupTube as “the worst rap battle ever” https://youtu.be/8rZwOR9lfIo Yo!

So, on 5 December 2006, Chargrove came to save you from this fate literally worse than death. Chris Hargrove, for it is He, celebrates his 51st birthday in The Home Of The Brave today. He came to say one thing to you all, and his signature reads thus; “God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved”. (John 3:17) John, of course, was The Special One, so Ancient Jerusalem’s equivalent of José Mourinho.

But what of Chris? Well, I am happy to share his post-PA story with you. When he registered to save us all, our Chris was a Content Editor. This was with Thomson Reuters updating tax and accounting publications, which from personal professional experience I can tell you are dryer than a desiccated snails arse. He is now, far more interestingly, a New Account Specialist with Dealer Socket, doing lots of facilitating, interfacing, meeting dealer-acquired requests, and updating channels! By heaven. Will paradise be full of such exciting chaps? I can hardly contain myself with the anticipation! Here is his LinkedArms thingy Chris Hargrove - Hardin-Simmons University - McKinney, Texas, United States | LinkedIn And for those of you really desperate to feast yourselves upon corporate bollocks, here are said Dealer Socket https://www.dealersocket.com/contact-us/

You know what? All of a sudden, an eternity of unsaved location seems pretty attractive, if only they could allow me to carry on Progging! Happy birthday, Sir! Say hello to The Lord and save Mr and Mrs Laz when you get up there!

Elsewhere, we should mention andyread. Andy celebrates his 52nd birthday today, and many of you will know him from Dutch Progressive Rock Page (DPRP), so named because it is based in Holland and is about, erm, prog. Andy is a long-standing contributor to that fine site Dutch Progressive Rock Page - DPRP.net Mind you, when he joined us in September 2015, staying without sharing anything with us, he gave his occupation as “foof trucker”. I for one really hope that this is a typo, because I am not altogether sure that anyone transporting used vulvas across Europe is capable of being saved, even by our friend Chris. Happy birthday, sir!

And last, but by no means least, we wish our SC Nightfly, or Paul Fowler as his lovely Mummy and Daddy named him 60 years ago today. Paul quite clearly will not require a great deal of saving, as he will have the patience of a saint, given that his occupation is that of a driving instructor to da yoof. Cheers!

Today, amidst the glorious news that having a lurgy jab will not, after all, kill you, and Boris hails “the road to freedom”, the PABT breathes a sigh of relief, and continues its essential role as a key worker in these strange and foreboding times bringing joy, happiness, and research, and, my friends, you can read it safe in the knowledge that doing so will absolutely NOT lead to you suffering from a blood clot.

So, let us first of all visit the weird and wonderful world of Fatso Forgetso. Now this forum name does lead one to worry a great deal about the health of our friend, Matt Frighetto, celebrating his 44th birthday in the Land of the Convicts today. Fatty obese personages are, of course, more at risk from lurgy mortality, and forgetting to have one’s vaccine could also be argued as carrying lurgy risks, although blood clot risk free.

His signature is as follows; CAN'T YOU TELL BY THE TRACKS LEFT? DUST SETTLES SLOW... What to make of this, then? Well, I shall tell you. This quote is, in fact, lyrics from Pigeon Toe by Fu Manchu from the album Eatin’ Dust. And here it is, for your delectation and delight. https://youtu.be/pObeG5lySVg Wow! Hardcore racket, dudes! Here is their website Fu Manchu and here is a discussion on our sister site, Far Too Hairy Archives, arguing that the band are Stoner, not pucker ‘eadbanging, which just goes to show that this type of utterly pointless argument is not confined to our part of earthdom Encyclopaedia Metallum: The Metal Archives • View topic - Fu Manchu (USA)

Of course, our very good friend Matt would agree with this analysis. When Blubber The Gut registered with the greatest website in drugdom, he listed his interests as STONER, DOOM,PSYCHE,FUZZ, although I really do fail to see how anyone could marry being an officer of the law with the first three stated enjoyable pastimes. Takes all sorts, I suppose.

There is a link to a website, Planet Fuzz - Just another WordPress site, but as this is empty, I assumed that Fatso had Forgotso to put anything on it. Either that, or he was too out of his skull to bother. However, fear not! All is not lost, because I found the actual blogspot where Matt, at least until 2011, fuzzed his opinions about all things stoner planetfuzz.com Here he is discussing the “bad ass bass” of Atolah on their Letsbesadderbook page Atolah | Facebook And, as a Brucie Bonus for you all, here is the gloriously bonkers Dead Leg from said Stoners Atolah https://youtu.be/E4sHd_zV-w0

Matt does let himself and his stoner creed down somewhat with his Pindrop site entry, showing a disappointingly serious interior design bent Matt Frighetto (mattfrighetto) – Profile | Pinterest This, I believe, is because he is a relation of an Italian interior designer, Pier Luigi Frighetto, so just about as far away from stoner rock as it is possible to get, really.

Never mind. Happy birthday, Matt. Have a bonzer day, mate! Strewth!

Elsewhere in present day contributors news, we wish a very happy birthday to palinurus, who celebrates his 59th birthday today, and has been a member since March 2007, but only bothering the censors with 90 posts, which amounts to almost criminal neglect of his posting duties!

Thankfully, far more prolific, and a wonderful Prog Reviewer in the PA cesspit, is Matti, who celebrates his 51st birthday today. So, let us shout out Hyvää Syntymäpäivää to our very good friend! Enjoy!

Looking back on PABT posts since we commenced this utter madness, I became acutely aware of a serious gender imbalance in our celebrations. For we have only had two days exclusively dedicated to personages who self identify as members of the female sorority, namely the 16 and 17 of February. Given that Prog Archives is very rightly committed in its mission statement to promoting gender equality in all of its corporate activities, I present to you, once again, Wimmin’s Hour.

So, let us first say hello to our very good friend PiscesLady, whose forum name strongly suggested that she was born in that lovely fishy constellation’s period, and she was of the female variety of souped-up ape species. Pisces, by the way, indicates to us that Sandra Jean Foley, as Mum and Dad very precisely named her 68 years ago, has water as her element and is ruled by that cold and foreboding planet, Neptune. Sandra joined our happy throng in December 2012, and, having examined the receding hairlines and pot bellies of the throng, ascertained in all of 13 minutes that we were not for her. She listed her occupation as singer/songwriter/artist, and her interests as singing, dancing, acting, and fantasy art.

Fantasy art......Now before the aforementioned pot-bellied male members amongst you get too overly excited, it really is not what you think, as her bloggy spotty site thingy makes clear. Some clever stuff here Sandra's Visual Art And Sandra, as can be seen from her TweetyPie BirdTable Feed site, is heavily involved in a great cause, namely trying to halt the imbecilic closure of her local A&E https://twitter.com/sandrajfoley

So, happy birthday to a lady I am sure would have been a terrific asset to the site!

And then, we move on to the wonderful world of asullivan82, or Aubrey Sullivan as she was named 39 years ago in the altogether lovely state of Michigan. Aubrey listed herself as a music teacher and interested in photography when she joined us for a stunningly brief period in May 2014. But she cannot hide from the PABT, oh no. For she is the International Logistics at Neogen. Aubrey Sullivan - International Logistics - Neogen | ZoomInfo.comFurther research informs us that the lovely people at Neogen are engaged in “dairy genomic profiling solutions”, which just goes to prove that even herds of moo cows aren’t exempt from the distasteful modern profligacy of corporate bollock speak Solutions for Food and Animal Safety | NEOGEN Happy birthday, Aubrey! Stay clear of them vegans!

And what, then, of Dashiel, or Daphne as she was allegedly named 26 years ago in The Big Apple? An examination of Words of Da Yoof dot com informs us that a Dashiel is a guy with the personality of a girl, usually ugly and having no banter. We are, I am sure, all agreed that this cannot possibly be true of our dearly departed sister.

And last, but by no means least, we pay homage to our lovely friend Diadara. Jana is 47 today, and hails from SwedenVikingLand. When she joined the glorious sorority in May 2005, she stayed for almost four years, but only bothered the masses with her opinion once to rightly inform us that Sweden Rocks, as anyone who has headbanged to ABBA will no doubt attest. Here is the post, but the website link is, I am afraid, no longer extant http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6225&PN=2 This thread was, BTW, started by another departed friend of ours, one MorpethSunshine, who, in a display of quite affecting male loneliness, asked the throng why it was so difficult to find a nice girl that listens to prog music, and whether there were any said nice girls who wished to “know him”. That smell, my dear friends, is that of unadulterated blokey hormones wafting across the ether.

Anyhoo, here is Jana’s headintheclouds site, in which you can listen to the dulcet tones of one Raign, a female singer-songwriter who has performed in front of the Devil Incarnate himself on the X-Factor. Actually, Raise The Dead is nowhere near as ghastly as you might think https://soundcloud.com/diadara

Elsewhere, we bid a very happy birthday to lostrom, or Lars-Olaf Strom, who is a senior member hereabouts, and celebrates his 58th birthday in Sweden by absolutely not banging his head to Agnetha and co. Happy birthday, sir!

That’s all folks!

As mentioned before in my posts, sometimes you switch on the iPad of a morning, gaze at the wonderful potential candidates for PABT immortality, and a theme cries out to you. So today, I bring you the “leading elsewhere” Birthday’s, wherein a post, forum name, or signature takes one on an odyssey of learning. We could, in addition, have had the usual plethora of personages attempting to flog us something, but they can wait for their plug in the ether another year.

So, let us consider our very good friend, Lunatic, who really seems to be anything but. She, for it was a her, joined our beloved site in September 2010, and celebrates her 29th birthday today. She stayed for all of six months, and posted only one solitary thing, but quite a post it was, showing maturity well beyond her then 18 years on Planet Earth. As you can see here, http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=61879&PN=45, Lunatic rather cared for the brethren’s collective health, in that she warned us all that when you have listened to too much prog, The Collective Quack Community have discovered that one can suffer from arrhythmia (unstable heart rhythm). Now, strangely, “our NHS” does not list prog rock as a trigger for said heart fluttering. Arrhythmia - NHSWorryingly, looking at the triggers, a certain Mr Laz enjoys his beer, partakes in the filthy weed, cannot sit still for more than one second, takes lots of exercise when he is able to walk the dog to the pub if allowed, and rather enjoys a cup of coffee prior to beer o’clock. I’m doomed!

The absence of prog from the list of triggers is quite clearly a very concerning example of NHS neglect, and I would implore all reading this thread to contact our esteemed Health Secretary immediately to right this glaring wrong. He can be contacted at matt.loadofoldw**[email protected]

In addition to this very helpful warning, take a look her signature. “Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair”. Now this, in all honesty, is not the usual stuff you expect from someone of that age. A rather beautiful verse. So, what can it be? Well, it is a line from The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran. Have a look see The Prophet Here is Mr Gibran’s Wikipeepee Page, which, I am afraid details his death at the terribly early age of 48, partly from cirrhosis of the liver, which is probably a more common effect of heavy boozing than prog listening, although the two can, of course, be done perfectly well in tandem. Kahlil Gibran - Wikipedia

Happy birthday, Ms Loony! What an absolute shame you didn’t stay with us, because I have the feeling you would have added quite a lot to the site.

We will also consider the signature of Juan20, who is 57 today, and joined us in April 2009 for all of eight minutes. Old Juan is an engineer, but his signature read Nathing. Looking at the definition of this word on that absolute go to site for Words Of Da Hood, we have Urban Dictionary: nathing Actually, it strikes me that lying in a pit with lots of other people, chilling, and tickling is probably more likely to give one heart palpitations than any Mike Oldfield session, but there you go.

And what about demradulescu, who left absolutely nothing about himself when he registered with the beloved brethren on Valentines Day 2008 for all of seven minutes, and celebrates his 56th birthday today? We do not have a Scooby-Doo who this particular person was, but his forum name is, in fact, quite cultural. Here is the WikiDoo page for Dem Rādulescu, a rather famous lovey in that cauldron of culture, Romania https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dem_R%C4%83dulescu

Elsewhere, Theo Verstrae celebrates his 63rd birthday in The Neutral Zone today. Our Romulan friend joined the site in April 2007, and still visits us to this day, without, sadly, bothering us with his thoughts once. C’mon Theo. Say something, anything!

Thanks, Laz! Very instructive indeed. Now, I wonder if the high tension on my eye balls is caused by listening to too much prog too (I especially suspect King Crimson...), or by a lack of nathing (do cats count?)? Unfortunately, since you Brits left us (us, uns, nous, ons, nosaltres...) continentals, will Dr. Matt Loadofoldetc.  still help those from the other side of the channel, with all of his wisdom? Is there still a cross-channel-solidarity left or do we really have to swim?

High tension on the eyeballs could quite clearly be caused by a lack of nathing, and pussy cats most definitely count.

Mr Hancock was, in fact, a remainer, one of the few within Boris’s cabinet, but he is now absolutely on message. Ironically, there are a shedload of leave voters here in Blighty who are desperately hoping for better vaccine rollout in Europe, and sharing by our government of excess doses if we get to that situation, simply so they can have their summer holidays.

Today, we are going to discuss the matter of contrasts. Our first birthday legend merely came on here, said absolutely nothing, whilst our second candidate plonked his website on as his signature, and also made, as we will see, numerous attempts to ingratiate himself with the prog brethren.

So, let us first go to that proud ancient land, also now an absolute hotbed of progdom, namely Poland to say cześć to Pmrudz. Our friend, whose gloriously detailed real name is Przemyslaw Rudz, joined us in April 2011, and stayed a whole two years without even attempting to upset Ivan once, or anyone else for that matter. Mr Rudz celebrates his 45th birthday today. The homepage link when he registered is no longer active, but he listed his occupation as a musician and book writer, which, as it turns out, is absolutely spot on. In fact, rather more interesting than that.

So, let is examine his Brandtent page. Music | Przemysław Rudź  I am listening to Power of the Mind from Cerulean Legacy as I write this post, and damned good stuff it is, too. Any of you lot out there who appreciate the electronic and ambient side of prog will find much to enjoy, and I think this is another birthday legend we have found who should be on the site as an artist. For those of you conversant in Polish, here is his Sadtogetherbook site https://www.facebook.com/przemyslaw.rudz/ and his website Przemysław Rudź – Strona Oficjalna And here is an English translation of his Wikiweewee page, which sets out the fact that not only is he a composer, but an author of astronomical texts, which also informs his musical journey. In other words, he is clearly an insufferably clever bugger. Don’t worry, I’m only jealous Google Translate

So! We say Sto Lat to our very good friend!

By way of contrast, let me present to you our next Sunday Superstar, this time hailing from The Home of the Brave. Yes, please say hello to SongJohn. Also, songwriting. You might also wish to doff your cap to 2008rulez whilst you are at it. And, lest we forget, we can also say happy 35th birthday to Solo.

As you might have guessed by now, our friend John, who hails from that favourite state of mine, Connecticut, forgot his password on more than one occasion.

He first registered as Solo in October 2006, and from this thread, struck one as an extremely nice young man http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=32130

Next up came 2008rulez, when he registered in, erm, 2008, and actually stayed a whole 10 years. He initially looked for a fellow psych musician http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=49690 but things turned a bit darker by 2018, when he was the victim of PA Crashdom, which, to be fair, was happening to every single one of us at the time. Of course, we all had the staying power to overcome it, unlike some slackers we could mention http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=114196 Regrettably, the no doubt wondrous music link of his compositions posted is no longer extant.

In 2009, our friend registered as songwriting, and engaged in shameless self-promotion of his songs http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=57269 Regrettably, said toons are lost to the intertit community for all time, but as John self-identified as a loser in his occupation, howsabout we make up for the disappointment of the lost music by reminding ourselves of a truly classic “loser” song. Any old excuse for a bit of Townsend https://youtu.be/dssTMapz9UM Absolute genius!

At the same time he was registered as the above, he also joined in December 2010 as SongJohn. This time, he provided us with a bit more of a clue as to his identity, by naming himself as John Valencia. Whilst the homepage link is disabled, the website link on his signature is very much live, and, of course, our friend John’s real multi-registering activities become clearer. He was trying to tempt the brethren into buying things, in this case used instruments, in between discussing the benefits of psychedelic drugs. Here is the website for all of you desperate to buy some gear, er the legal type of course Andy & John's Vintage Instrument Rodeo Happy birthday, sir! Try and write the bloody password down next time!

Elsewhere in proggerland, we wish an extremely Penblwydd Hapus to our old friend, Snow Dog, or Iain Cowie as his parents named him 61 years ago. Iain was a right old character on the site, and many of us miss his acerbic wit.

Another great Sunday read Laz. But they are getting as long as The Times. I was disappointed that there was no mention of England v India in the sports section. Or that there was no sports section!! Never the less, it filled my Sunday afternoon with bliss.

Today, on the PABT, I am going to take you on a geographical learning tour, this in order to increase your knowledge and awareness of the world around you and reassure you all as to the global reach of prog and, naturally, Prog Archives.  Either that, or I couldn’t find anything else to write.

So let us send our felicitations to Ktang. K Tang, by the way, is a tangy kimchi ketchup, and it is naturally fermented in, erm, London. No, really! Have a look at their Twitsareus feeder https://twitter.com/lovektangHowever, this is not related to our friend Kyle who joined the saucy brethren in 2009 and celebrates his 31st birthday in Camarillo today. Camarillo is a lovely city in Ventura County in California, that haven for all folk woke. And here, indeed, is their “community engagement portal”, or website to those of us who still like to speak plain English Welcome to City of Camarillo, CA For those of you in the locality, you can have a community conversation, which is jolly exciting, and sure beats going down to the local saloon and actually having to meet like minded ape related fellow sapiens Engage Camarillo And, in an exercise which makes you proud to be a democrat (as opposed to a Democrat), 142 citizens of our new favourite city responded to a community survey. Given that the latest population of the city was 65,201, this equates to an absolutely massive 0.2% of the population, or to put it another way, every single local councillor!

And, here are the priorities of the good folk of Camarillo for the forthcoming year;

1. COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT

2. LAND USE AND TRANSPORTATION

3. FISCAL MANAGEMENT

4. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

5. ENVIRONMENT/RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

6. COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT

7. COMMUNITY RELATIONS

8. GOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS

9. EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

10. CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY CHANNEL ISLANDS

I, for one, am glad to see so many relations in the above list and feel that they might even wish to put in place some form of cross pollination. That sounds like a really fun way to spend taxpayers money, subsidised relationships. Gets my vote!

And, even more excitingly, there is a prog connection to this lovely town. Yep, howsabout the deliciously loopy Mr Frank Zappa and his Camarillo Brillo, from Over-Nite Sensation in 1973. Now an admission from your pal Mr Laz. The link I am putting here to this track is the first time I have bothered to listen to Zappa for something like 35 years. Here goes https://youtu.be/nllWDc8_9lw Utterly barking, and I must say that I am looking forward to 2056 already!

Kyle’s signature was one which has been used on many a meme, namely “Life gave me lemons and I threw them back” So, to close, I give you... https://youtu.be/elHkqLS8M0s

So! Happy birthday, Kyle. Yours is a more common name than I thought, so what precisely you are doing now is a mystery! Whatever it is, enjoy!

Elsewhere in Proggerland, the PABT would wish to shout out a plea to our wonderful Crossbow Team Collabs on behalf of our lovely Danish friend, PC-72., who celebrates his 34th birthday today and has been a member for about 10 years now. Have a look see at his application to joint the hallowed temple of PA artists http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=119773 And have a listen to Mahad.  ▶︎ Mahad | R Swan Really quite lovely stuff. Get him on!
