Pete is truly the unsung hero of the album. He's just on fire throughout!!! The singing...not so much!!! But "Looking For The Light" is Mike's best ever vocal turn.

IMHO Pete's singing used to be better back in the day. But on this album it's still ok.

![]() I took the song Solitude and edited out the "Love Made a Way" sections with Neal's vocals down to 3:54 minutes. Now it sounds way better. xD Edited by Hrychu - February 12 2021 at 15:45 |

Rainbow Sky - beautiful song with an ELO kind of vibe.

There's an interesting "round table review" on DPRP: five of their reviewers talking about the same album. I listened to the album and I can only - and completely - agree with Jerry van Kooten's take on it (although my rating would be slightly less severe).

I respect Jerry van Kooten's opinion.
HOWEVER, I HAVE THE GOD DARN RIGHTS TO THROW IT TO THE GARBAGE CAN AND ENJOY THE ALBUM. B) It's funny how different people see the same album in completely different ways. xD Edited by Hrychu - February 26 2021 at 05:48 |

who's Jerry van Kooten and why should I pay attention to him? I haven't listened to the new album yet, but I will try soon enough.

![]() ![]() I
read DPRP since its beginnings, 25 years ago, and I like it that they
do those round table reviews - when you know a bit the preferences of
the reviewers it is often very informative and instructive. Edited by suitkees - February 26 2021 at 15:11 |

I read Jerry’s review, and it is extremely well written. I rather like the album, actually, probably their best effort since the amazing debut, but an honest review is always far superior to a sycophantic one.

I just don’t get all the negative vibes about the new albums. The posts of it sounds different from the others, it is a stupendous slab of PROGRESSIVE ROCK !!!

I have the Forevermore version and I love it. This and The Whirlwind I would say are my favourite TA albums, though parts of the first album are amazing too. All Of The Above is one of my favourite prog epics, and I love We All Need Some Light. I find the second album a bit too heavy in places for my tastes, but the title track is beautiful. Kaleidoscope was a bit disappointing after The Whirlwind but The Absolute Universe is a definite return to form.
I would agree with many of the comments above, Mike's singing on Looking For The Light is his best ever, Rainbow Sky is a brilliant song, and Pete's bass on The Darkness In The Light is amazing. I also like the songs that Roine sings, many of them have a strong Flower Kings vibe to them. I've listened to the abridged version once (on Spotify) and I wasn't particularly impressed. Maybe I need to listen again.

That guy needs to take some medicine or go use that toilet, can't handle all that moving back and forth. There are tons of reviews out now. Having spun the album several times, it has really shown me a return to what I think of with Transatlantic which is SMPTe and The Whirlwind. I have Forevermore (Extended Version) and am really happy with the outcome.

^^^ haha yeah I didn't want to say anything cause there could be some underlying cause to that, but man that got annoying after about 3 seconds.
As for the actual topic, I made my thoughts pretty clear in my review how I felt about the different versions

I really do see value in both. They have different vibes.
Forevermore is very much like The Flower Kings' Islands and The Breath Of Life is similar to Neal's Sola Gratia. And I preferred Sola Gratia so I am leaning into the shorter version lately. But then I miss "Bully" and "Rainbow Sky." And I'm back into Forevermore. First World problems...
