Do you really think that they will be able to find an unbiased jury to find him guilty of one of his multiple crimes?  Maybe in New York, but even then not likely.

In NYC? Absolutely. And that's why he's sh*t scared of the NYC investigation.

I suppose no one on here is surprised about the outcome today. I am pretty much 100 percent convinced that Trump could have said something like "I want you guys to go to the capital and kill Mike Pence and everyone else you see on floor" and the outcome would have been the same. He still would be found not guilty. It's all because the republicans are thinking only about their political careers and think there will be repurcussions if they didn't vote the way they did. The others are either near the end of their terms or just don't care and actually have morals.

Yes, that's the sad truth

I wouldn't be so sure about that.  There are a lot of wealthy businessmen that live in NYC and odds are that one or two of them won't be able/won't want to avoid being on that jury.

The list of businessmen that Trump screwed over in NY is mind boggling. And that goes for his many NY investors. He had few friends left in NY before jumping to politics. Except for Geoffrey Epstein. Lol

So if Republican politicians are afraid of voting in favor of impeachment because the consequences could be a defeat in their next election, that leads me to assume something that I find a bit unlikely:

It would mean that of all conservative voters, there would be a majority that wouldn't vote conservative any more, because for them it's either Trump or nothing.

I would have thought these would be in a minority compared to those conservative voters who are 1) traditional conservatives and who would continue to vote for the GOP, regardless and 2) those conservative voters who are glad that Trump's gone because they feel he was a blight on the GOP.

The way GOP politicians are acting, it seems that rabid Trump supporters must be the majority amongst all conservative voters. Can this really be?

I agree with Steve here. We can't underestimate the influence of Trump on the republican party. Even those who disagree with him want some of his "cult of personality."

Yes, but it's more than that to many Republicans. Farmers in the mid west states feel like the forgotten minority. Trump really did nothing for them but he always mentioned them. So they imagined that they were no longer forgotten and had a champion. The reality of thier situation had nothing to do with it.

Not that there isn't already something wrong with the world because he wasn't convicted today but there's something even more wrong with the world if he doesn't face any more legal consequences.

Oh don't worry, this was just the party stuff for the history books that they needed to get out of the way first. I foresee the next 5 years full of (insert your insulting name for him here) legal issues. The state stuff is just about to get rolling and those are the cases I'm looking forward to.

I don't think the shape of an office matters. why should a president not sit in a rectangular office instead of an oval one?

Much worse is the fact that the GOP has signaled to the world that Trump might be back in four years time. Or one of his devilish spawn. Good luck on rebuilding global trust with that possibility looming over the horizon.

Trump's rallying cry during the 2016 election was "Lock Her Up!".  I thought for sure that Hillary would face a trial after Trump came to power and nothing happened.  I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens with Trump. Everybody on the Left is so certain that he is going to see the inside of a prison cell, but I'll be surprised if they ever even charge him with anything.  And if they do, and he is somehow convicted, he will frame himself as some sort of political prisoner and that would be a blight on our politics and a rallying cry for his most adoring supporters.

Oh ye of little faith. You said that there would be no vaccine and yet there is one. In fact, many. You said that Georgia wouldn't flip the Senate, and yet they did. Have you learned nothing?
