I don't know if that will amount to much right away, we will see. I'm sure those people are aware of the fact that trump attracted a certain bunch to the repub party that were not repubs before.
I have been reading the short little bios that have accompanied the arrests of the capital protest people and over and over again you hear stuff such as; this person was not that interested in politics until trump came along, or this person was a disgruntled democrat until trump came along etc.

The repub party had been shifting from its traditional chamber of commerce/hawkish on Russia base towards angry rednecks and anti new world order anti-vaxxers for a while. Bill Clinton scored points with the chamber of commerce crowd while George Bush Sr angered the new world order people. George Jr's rhetoric appealed to the rednecks while Obama's nomination chased the rest off.

The stage was set for trump and his transformation of the repub party from chamber of commerce/hawkish on Russia to the current angry rednecks and anti new world order conspiracy people.

Trump has successfully dragged the repubs down a rabbit hole that made the party lose all three branches of government. Guys like Rand Paul and Lindsey Graham know that, but they are scared if they anger the trumpateers they will be left with nothing. There are a couple repubs, such as Ben Sasse and Mitt Romney who are trying to redirect the party, we'll see what happens, but in the meantime, trump's destruction of the party is just as Graham predicted five years ago.

That smells like teen spirit to me.    (I'd of made reference to the prog Nirvana, but I don't know them).

The Senate voted 55 to 45 to allow witnesses to testify in the impeachment trial today. But I'm afraid it's just a show by Republicans to make themselves look serious when voting to not convict thier hero.

I have absolutely no respect at all for the 43 Republicans that voted to acquit him.  Sadly, I have no ability to vote them out of office, so I am stuck with them.  

I did not expect any other result. hopefully they will pay dearly for this in the next elections

Don't dispair. A lot could happen before then like Trump going to prison with no Republican President to pardon him. Now, doesn't that delight your imagination?
