20 more albums

I left out some albums - metal, AOR, synth-pop, you can comment what else have I forgotten, especially obvious albums. LOL

TBH, I don't think this list is any better than the other one (see the other thread for my idea of a 1984 list), but at least Roger's solo Hitchhiking album is in it

Gary Moore ! I had the cassette and I've just ordered the CD.

And Solaris for progressive rock.

For me, 1984: a year dedicated to hard-rock/heavy-metal. I was a fan of that style of music, not a progressive rock listener yet. Wink

Another good selection for 1984.

Voted Rush, but also loved The Scorpions, The Cure, Queen & Duran Duran albums that year.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

where did I say you should be ashamed of your taste?ConfusedWink And I don't think I'm being dismissive either, like' you hinted in the other poll Ouch.Wink

You're asking for feedback, and I happily oblige, but sooooooorrrrryyyyy if it doesn't please you. Stern Smile

As for creating my own poll (should I feel the need), you've got an dea of what I would propose in it with my list.Smile

I explained at the bottom of page 1 of the other thread that 84 was a hinge year for me and pop & rock were on the way out (until +/- 1991) in my musical interest. Of course I couldn't escape hearing the dominant pop-rock of the 80's when leaving my own place and during that period there would still be the odd rock album I would buy like:
Supertramp and Dire Strait's' respective Brother albums,
ELPowell
The Cult's debut,
Joshua Tree and Rattle & Hum,
The Gabe's So,
Kravitz's Let love Rule,
Harper's Jugula
.... but you will amit that amlounts to very few rock albums bought over the five years
not to mention the odd crap that I got rid of almost immediately after spinning a couple of times.

BTW, I wouldn't discover Ozric and Tangle Edge until the mid-90's  (these private-release cassettes escaped my radar totally) and I missed 2Talk's Eden album back then.

I disagree here, their 1984 album is quite good.

And yes, i find Bono annoying and I think U2 are overrated, but there are a lot of songs of theirs that I like, too.

Saying "this list is not any better than the other one" is directed to my taste rather than criticizing the actual music in the list. I f you said you did not like the music in the list, no problem, no offense taken. There is a difference here.

a 20 albums in a poll and you say "none" is not dismissive? Confused

The music you mention in your post is not from 1984, so not much i can object to... Confused

OK, I see your point, but I can only reiterate that it wasn't meant to offend.Hug

It's not even that I dislike the music you mention in your list , but it leaves me relatively cold

Anyway, from the list I gave in the other thread, you know what I retain from 1984 (outside Orwell, that isLOL)

Camel by some distance, even though this is not my favourite of them. The Eloy and Gilmour album are OK.

Maybe it's just the fact that Bono always wears sunglasses indoors that irritates people. Smile

Bono is a complete d!ck IMO.

I like U2 up to The Joshua Tree. With the exception of a couple of tracks, that album was a bore, and really was the emperor's new clothes.
