Initially I have thought of a single song, with a maximum of 15 participants. But then there was enthusiasm, a desire to do, to propose, to listen, and to comment, and the commitment became increasingly burdensome. Myself some weeks like July and August and even the last three, I struggled to find the time to participate and listen to all the songs, not to mention the time to comment. Since there are these polls I have sacrificed a lot of my participation in other sections of the forum and have less time for reviews.  The talent scout work you do for the site is precious, you are a discoverer of new prog, and I understand that you cannot sacrifice it to do these polls which, by the way, are not about prog. Anyway, when you want to come back, do it freely, when you have two weeks more free than usual, you could come back here and join a poll, a bit like taking a two week vacation, and then go back to doing prog (or doing both things together). We don't have to participate in every round of the Poll, we can come here when we want to get distracted, and then let it go for a while.

This should never be a burden, and the level of participation will vary.

Of course it was stretched to two weeks to try to make it easier on people, but that still can be too time-consuming. I do hope we get some more of those post just one track polls like the first, because that is easier to get ahead in one's listening and there is less to have to listen to (especially if the length is kept minimal). Mind you, I am loving the duos. Hopefully you'll be back Mike if you have free time in the future. Of course one doesn't need to post commentary, other than posting one's three votes, then there's thinking of a nomination (my problem is I generally think of several and often feel unsure), but just the listening does take time, it always requires a few spins from me, and one is not always in the mood. I didn't participate in a few rounds and once or twice I was busy and didn't vote.   I do think this is the greatest series and poll idea I've seen at PA during all my years here and would hate to see many people burning out. Since I rarely post in the politics thread, this is generally the most interesting topic (or entertaining) to me at the board (with politics I listen and read more than I like to write about it -- can feel like work writing about it, and this beats any of my cod philosophising).

I always enjoy your entries, Mike, but also understand the need to take a break from time to time from anything!  Even enjoyable things, today instead of listening so much, I took time out for myself to read and play harp, it's good to "cleanse the palate," from time to time.   I hope sometime you'll come back!  

Not for me, that's spontaneous laughter....it's when they add a canned laugh track to somehow let you know you're supposed to laugh there (I guess?) that I find it irritating...thinking television.
