Trying not to duplicate any albums in Cristi's list (some would be on mine), and I'm only focusing on certain ones in PA that are in my collection.

The Alan Parsons Project - I Robot (not included see below)
Anna Sjalv Tredje - Tussilago Fanfara
Archaïa - Archaïa
Artcane - Odysee
David Bowie - "Heroes"
Carpe Diem - Cueille le jour
Circus - Movin' On
Dionne - Brégent - Deux
Goblin - Suspiria (OST)
John Greaves et al - Kew. Rhone.
Peter Hammill - Over
Heldon - Interface
Kraftwerk - Trans-Europe Express (Trans-Europa Express)
Franco Leprino - Integrati... Disintegrati
Maneige - Ni Vent... Ni Nouvelle
Bennie Maupin - Slow Traffic to the Right
Pierrot Lunaire - Gudrun
Plat du jour - Plat du jour
The Residents - Fingerprince
Klaus Schulze - Mirage
Yochk'o Seffer - Ima
Shylock - Gialorgues
Stormy Six - L'Apprendista
Igor Wakhevitch - Nagual (les ailes de la perception)
Univers Zero - 1313
Zanov - Moebius 256 301

I miscounted and opted to leave out I robot, much as I love t, because that album already gets so much attention. The Bowie is the only one not included in a Prog category, but I think it fits well enough.

If you disagree with the date of release, please don't feel like you must exclude it for that reason. I'm more interested in what you think about the albums. And please feel free to vote even if you only know and like one of them. I'd rather that than, "Don't know enough, no vote." While I would request that you vote and comments on one of my choices, feel free to additionally mention any other albums and as many as you want.

None at all. While I haven't commented yet only cause I couldn't think of anything worth adding (not that that usually stops me), I was enjoying reading your The David Bowie works topic. Do hope it doesn't take a year before you get to Blackstar (the Bowie album I have been most into for quite some time, having very much got into it again of late).

---------------------------------------

When coming up with lists of my favourites I often don't vote (and some of these I do appreciate more than others), but Franco Leprino's Integrati... Disintegrati has been a particularly special album to me. In fact, in an old topic asking "If there was one album in PA that you could rate six stars out of five then what would it be?", that was my choice at the time.

Brilliant year for music per my tastes. There's lot of electronic and related music from that year that I love, and I did a long poll on that alone from 1977 at one time (most of those I did not list here and went with more variety).

And Paul, I say not at all seriously, not knowing that Bowie almost makes me wonder if you've been living on Mars... Actually, I'm not sure if there is any life on Mars -- wrong album reference of course. I haven't heard every Bowie album, and the Berlin trilogy albums I wouldn't expect to be particularly to your tastes on the whole (Low, Heroes and Lodger).

^ Please do vote for 1313 if you like it. Although the comments matter more to me than just the votes, when I do a long list like this I wouldn't expect many people to be very or at all familiar with many of these albums so I'm happy when people vote and comment just based on hearing one album that they enjoy. It's definitely not a contest; just another music appreciation thread.

I'll embed a few tracks from some that generally don't get a lot of recognition at PA, and some of you might say "I can hear why" (Suspiria perhaps being an exception, and I know Gudrun has had various admirers at PA):

(from my very favourite "Canterbury" album at one time)

(it's all on youtube, but just a short taster from my pick of the bunch)

(some of you will recongise Quasar from Herbie Hancock's Crossings, which I love, but I also adore this funky version-- it was a Maupin composition all along and he was one of the Mwandishi players). I love the way it builds. It always gets me.

Gudrun is such a classic, although I could imagine the vocals in that being off-putting to some.

I haven't yet. Just listened to Ziggy for the first time today actually (though I had heard some of those before).

I know the song, but I haven't heard the Heroes album as a whole - although I do have ten other David Bowie albums in my CD collection. Smile

Nice poll Greg
A LOT of my faves included here but you probably already knew that. My first reaction was to vote for Leprino but he’s already received some love...and then I saw Plat du Jour. The latter is without a doubt one of PA’s best kept secrets..possibly because it’s listed in one of the weirdo-subs...but man if you’re into Canterbury, fusion and Stevie Wonder...you hit the motherload.

I am such a sucker for Bowie’s Berlin trilogy but have to admit that Heroes is ly least favourite of the bunch. In fact, I consider Heroes to be one of his lesser albums from the 70s. Both Low and Lodger are far more interesting albums imho.

P.S. Just took another look at the options..and well you’re killing me Stormy Six and Schulze could also fairly easy be my pick..as well as Anna Själv Tredje.
