A very heavy blast of jethro tull with dorian flavours , features great drumming by Doane perry and tasty licks by Martin barre The smokin opener ROOTS TO BRANCHES is stellar tull haven,t heard anything this heavy since MINSTREL IN THE GALLERY ,OUT OF THE NOISE was a quick u turn by far great lyrics lots of different percussion used thoughtout giving a indian flair or style. The song RARE AND PRECIOUS CHAIN has a heavy groove good song.I also enjoyed WOUNDED,OLD and TREACHEROUS a lighter tune but worth of note .Worst song
AT LAST FOREVER a very weak and overly long for my tastes. The best song is the classic BESIDE MYSELF most likely one of the best tull songs ever about proverty. a four star effort out of five ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for taking the time out of your day ,to read my review. A five 🌟 album for me. I played it to death when it was first released, but then I love world music mixed with rock.

Yup, definitely their best since Stormwatch, and ahead of the very-uneven Crest of a Knave. (the only two I own nowadays, with TAAB2) TBH, I really don't care for the rest of Tull's post-SW albums |

The best of the 'late period' JT, but only a fair album overall. For this site, I'd give it a very weak 3 stars.

Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

After the lamentable Rock Island and the passable Catfish Rising, Roots to Branches was a return to form.

Pretty good album. I prefer the best tracks from Dotcom period though. I think Catfish period has a few cool tunes as well. There's a double album worth of tunes for each album. So we'll get a mix of strong and weak tracks but an album worth of pretty good material. Kind of what we had for a few of Tulls sessions from 1970-84. You'll get pretty similar quality if you chose the best 10 tracks from every year and compared them. The 90s were a good decade for the band.

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.
