A (Random) 1986 Albums Poll

I'm surprised three giant albums (if you ask me) are not getting any attention, possibly because they're metal or even is it possibly they're unknown here.  All three of them amazing debuts, from Candlemass, Heir Apparent and Crimson Glory. 

I only know six of those, so won't vote.

ELPowell would be my top choise of those I know. I gave in an awful review on PA many years ago, but my re-appraisal is more favourable. It has great highs and awful lows, which is in keeping with ELP albums.

The Ozzy album disappointed me at the time. I loved Bark at the Moon, but TUS seemed week in comparison. I don't care much about production, but I seem to remember the weak, tinny Ron Nevison production robbed the album of any power it could have had.

What?! No love for Fates Warning on this one?!

I first met Yngwie's music in the late 90s, I guess. Trilogy should be the record. I still love it. Magic Mirror is my favourite song from the album. Yngwie's first, Rising Force has some mind-blowing songs, like Far Beyond the Sun; but Trilogy has a concept album air and it flows nicely till the end.

Anyway, I'll vote for YJM - Trilogy as you should have guessed.

Seeing Madonna, a mediocre singer if you ask me, getting praise here (and voted for in another poll) gives me a headache, I don't get it.  and there is the problem, a closed mind gives one a headache...always!!  This is General Music Discussion not one of those krappy Prog threads. Journey..hmm Raised On Radio might be mid 80's....

ELPowell. Like the other thread on Floyd's AMLOR album, this one is sort of soft spot because it was actually the first ELP album I bought. I was a teenager at the time and Touch and Go was being played a lot on the AOR stations. This one started my journey going through their back catalog and discovering their 1970s masterpieces.
