No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

I could only find it on Spotify: Tv-2 - "Læn dem ud" (Lean yourself out [of the train window]), 1988.

Back in the day, the Danish Intercity trains had a sign by the windows that said "Læn Dem ikke ud" (Don't lean yourself out). Tv-2 are paraphrasing it in this song.

'Dem' the accusative form of 'de' which normally means 'they', but it is also used in the meaning 'you', in the same manner as for instance the German 'Sie', the French 'vous', the Spanish 'usted' and so on. So "Læn dem ud" can both mean "Lean yourself out" and "Lean them out". Later in the song we get the sentence "Smid dem endelig ud" which consequently can mean both "Just throw yourself out (of the window)" or "Just throw them out". It is possible that the songwriter Steffen Brandt wanted to address the growing xenophobia; he had done so on other occasions, and he has a habit of playing on double meanings. There are many layers to his songs.

Normally, however, 'de' and 'dem' will be written with a big D, if it means 'you'. Just like in German: 'sie' versus 'Sie'. It is striking that the lyrics on the sleeve uses a small d...

Lyrics:
There I stood in the train thinking:
What a mess is this
What are we to do with the Danish indecisiveness
And someone ought to do something

Lean yourself, just lean yourself out
Lean yourself, just lean yourself out

And right there between Jutland and Funen
and a long way from home
I could suddenly hear an unclear inner
speaker voice that said:

Lean yourself, just lean yourself out
Lean yoursef, hang yourself (them?), just throw yourself (them?) out
Lean out
Lean out
Lean out
Lean out on the rules, the systems, the principles
Just throw yourself (them?) out

Outside everything I could see my life
passing by way too quickly:
There's a pretty garden, a decent facade
and a yawning boredom

Lean yourself, just lean yourself out
Lean yourself, just lean yourself out

On my way out of the window I thought
It might as well have been me
sitting there with the coffee while a train passed by
and someone shouted:

Lean yourself, just lean yourself out
Lean yoursef, hang yourself (them?), just throw yourself (them?) out
Lean out
Lean out
Lean out
Lean out on the coffee table, the Sunday coziness
Just throw yourself (them?) ou
