From the Department of Unusual Activity Detected In Order of Appearance Department:

There was a special show in honour of Friday Night Progressive's 9th Anniversary, on 5 June.  Ron Marquiss has presented this show for 9 years and along with playing some of Tom's music, there will be a giveaway of the 3 CD's as well as other fine progressive music downloads, CD's and even a rare DVD.  Please come along and say hello in the chat if you get a chance, show begins at 6PM PDT, usually a 2-hour show, but may run overtime under the circumstances.  Link to Friday Night Progressive:  http://fridaynightprogressive.com/home/

On Saturday, 6 June, Bandcamp added Tom to their opening page banner, "New and Notable."  I'd sent them an email briefly (ha! I know what you're thinking) telling them about Tom, after noticing that they suggested doing this for an unusual story connected with an artist.  A member of their staff contacted me with the notification that they were doing this feature.  Curious to see what they do, it will be short and sweet, but nice to get the coverage.  Link to Bandcamp:  https://bandcamp.com/

Also announcing that Kev Rowland's reviews of all 3 of the CD's was just released in a hard copy format by Amplified, which is a fanzine that Kev actually created under the name of "Feedback," which he ran for 16 years.  It is the newsletter of Mensa's Rock Music Special Interest Group in the UK, now run by Phil Roach.Two of the CD covers were also chosen for the back cover of the Fanzine.  Link to Kev's reviews here on PA are at the end of this post.

Airplay for the month was also pretty steady, beginning with Friday Night Progressive on 5 June.  Ron Marquis selected the entire Wayfarer Suite to play for their 9th birthday party and giveaway.  I chose to donate a set of the CD's to the cause and Ian Carrs (aka The Prog Snob), felt them worth vying for and won the set.  Link to Friday Night Progressive:  http://fridaynightprogressive.com/home/

Also worthy of special appreciation has been Mike Sherrill, who hosts WTAU Pea Ridge Nation on Spreaker.  His show is very varied (there may be cookie monster vocals), mostly independent releases.  He has been championing Tom with playing something every week this month since he debuted the music there on 30 May, playing "A Slight Overture of Sorts."  "Cows Appear Out of Nowhere," "Burnt Peas, Pt 3," "The Keys," and last night, "East Fork," all have been on the show as of this point.  Link to WTAU Pea Ridge Nation:  https://www.spreaker.com/show/the_weff_pea_ridge_nation_show

Alex Cruzeta of The Monday Chemistry Sets on Deep Nuggets was going to play a tune of Tom's on 1 June, that show was preempted by an internet outage.  He returned the following Monday and chose the title track, "Spinning Through Eternity," of that recording...."8 minutes of pure bliss," as he described it whilst back-announcing the music.  Link to Deep Nuggets:http://deepnuggets.com/

Nickie, a few days ago I bookmarked Tom's Bandcamp page, and listened to Burnt Peas. Though these days I find it hard to concentrate on music (unless it's something I already know), I fully intend to listen to all the albums there. I am just sorry I don't write reviews any longer, but at least I can show my appreciation by listening.

From the Department of Kind of Mind-Blowing Eerie Coincidences Department, this happened today, of all days.  This is the 3rd anniversary of Tom's death.  Take note of the song they chose and also the ad....

I'd been in contact with this station and had had some technical trouble getting them Tom's music and finally was able to on my third try, with some direction from the Station Owner, who I suspected might have lost patience with me and the project.  I got the music to him about 2 weeks ago and hadn't heard anything, other than "they would get back to me."  

Today, at around 1:30PM, I left a show that I often listen to on Tuesdays, which was just ending and thought I'd check in on the station's Progressive show.  Note the tune and also the ad.  There is a little further news, though, in that I messaged the Station Owner to thank him for the add and he said that he'd be uploading two more of Tom's songs to get them into rotation this week.  

BWNR airs their progressive show Monday - Friday 1PM - 2PM PDT, if you'd like to listen and find out what other pieces they have chosen to play.  Here is a link to their site:    https://thebandwagonnetwork.net/  

Lots of other Indie Progressive artists are also being played here of course, I heard some that I haven't heard in other places and I make the rounds of those shows frequently.

Attention Hamerheads!

From The Department of More Martian Music Hitting the Netwaves and Airwaves, Even With The Sad Demise of Arecibo (If There Is No Telescope To Hear Music Does It Still Occur In Space?  Of Course It Does) Department.   

Yes, even 2020 must come to an end on Earth.  Not sure what year it is on Mars, but the music just keeps getting played. 

Alex Cruzeta kindly informed me that a piece of Tom's music will be aired today, Monday, 21 December on his penultimate Monday Chemistry Sets show of the year.  Alex's show airs on Deep Nuggets from 5PM - 9PM PT, the Prog Hour is the second hour in, this time more around the 6:20PM PT mark, per Alex.  Link to Deep Nuggets:  https://deepnuggets.com/

No, it’s not from the Perseverance rover, it’s from the Department of (Semi) Debut on a New Show News Department of News:

Through a chance encounter in a chat with a DJ from a show/ of which I somehow, was unaware, arose an opportunity to share Tom’s music with a potential new-to-us host.  DJ Tony Romero’s Live show airs on Saturdays, from 10AM PT until about 1PM PT on House of Prog internet radio.  Tony was kind enough to do a surprise debut play last Saturday, of “Sloppy Love At Bodie Flats,” and has let me know he is going to be playing more of Tom’s music tomorrow, Saturday 20 February.   Come on over and give a listen, why dontcha?  Link to House of Prog:  https://houseofprog.com/

In other exciting news (reported on in my last Martian Mail, but heck, why not repeat it anyway, in case you missed it), Dyanne Potter Voegtlin of Potter’s Daughter has kindly obtained permission to record a solo piano cover of Tom’s “Catherine,” which will be formally released in early 2022.  There are various ways to contribute to her crowdfunding effort on indiegogo with a much sooner available copy of this and also her upcoming group release.   She is planning on making “Catherine,”  available in April, for those who contribute and select it as a perk.  She is a fantastic pianist and I know she will do a fabulous job on this beautiful piece of music.

On current shows, Mike Sherrill continues to play Tom’s music on his W.T.A.U.
