I love this band. Joff Winks (guitar, voice), Matt Baber (keys), Brad Waissman (bass), and Andrew Booker or Paul Mallyon (drums). They play a modern Canterbury style of music (PA lists them as Neo-Prog?) that is divine.
Joff’s voice is superb and his guitar playing reminds me of Phil Miller. Tasty… not a lot of notes, just the right notes at the right time. Matt’s playing is a breath of fresh air, he uses electric piano more than the organ. The rhythm section is spot on. Sanguine Hum have released five studio albums, first one was released in 2007 as a download only, re-released on CD in 2016. They also have a live CD/DVD. All of these releases have exceptional music on them and anyone that enjoys the Canterbury sound and has not heard this band should.
Any fans out there? Thoughts? |

I'm definitely a fan. My fandom goes way back to the "Antique Seeking Nuns" years.

It doesn't take a lot of time to listen since ASN only had 3 EPs, but what some excellent music! I was glad when they became Sanguine Hum.

Great stuff! ASN, SH, and even Joff Winks Band. Love it! I was introduced to them by John Davie (Mellotron Storm) years ago when they were ASN, one of dozens of bands he showed me. (God bless you John, wherever you are...)

New album Friday. "The Yellow Ship" is killer, can't wait to hear the rest. Anyone else?

^What do you think of song they released? Different from their previous material. Well played and arranged. Jazzy. Joff is a great guitarist.

I adore all the Antique Seeking Nuns EPs but for some reason Sanguine Hum doesn't fully click with me. I liked their first album but wasn't really blown away by anything I've heard. The ASN material is far superior to my ears.
