I like it when blues men in the 1960s and 70s incorporated soul and funk in their music. Two of my favourites are Albert King's 1967 album Born Under A Bad Sign, with its southern soul grooves, and Freddie King's full-on funk album Burglar from 1974.
Please recommend me some of your favorite soul/funk blues!

RnB vets The Isley Brothers picked up the funk in the mid 70s. The album "The Heat is On" which featured "Fight the Power" is a good example. The Bar Kays followed a similar timeline. Of course the Godfather of funk had been playing blues and RnB for some time before he came out with "I'm Black and I'm Proud".

Thanks man, that's some bomb ass funk! But it's not the funk infused blues I'm looking for. I'm still going to get me that Isley Brothers album, sounds real good! I already have some Bar-Kays and lots of JB.

Somewhat similar is when blues oriented soul jazz B3 players picked up the funk in the early to mid-70s, such as "Heatin System" by Jack McDuff.

There's even a recognised music genre called Blues-Soul (or Soul-Blues) and I'll have a long list of artists in that particular genre coming up for you tomorrow, just as soon as I can find the list on my other laptop.

I was thinking about anotther artist, while im not an expert or avid listner, i paid some attention in music class to be able to remember and recollect central player within the sound of and fusion of soul elements and funk elements. One of the core contributers is Curtis Mayfield.
And here is a genious song the is a neat blend of soul and funk, with crispy elements of experimentation. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BzsmciMNAGU |

Brother Curtis.....Isaac Hayes.....James Brown in his hypno-funk phase in the early 70s, especially the Payback and Hell albums.....of course, Marvin Gaye, Stevie and the Temps moving Motown from 60s pop to 70s soul......Junion Walker's All-Stars went from Chess blues to Rainbow Funk in just a few years......even haveSolomon Burke got in on the scene, though he never dove in completely. At the time, some of these artists got a lot of gruff for "selling out", but looking back the early 70s left behind some great soul-funk-rock classics from artists who began in more traditional forms.
