Here's a poll I stole directly from 2005! Yes, such a poll was active in that year and got 193 votes in total. The question and the poll options are exactly the same, and I think this is a theme that after 14 years is still not resolved, if I may say so. Let's see if the forum is more active today, pick an option and keep the discussion going. |

Well...I'm not sure they are...I would ask you to say how they are snobs ,and be specific.

I don't think you are meant to take this poll this seriously.

The poll needs an "all of the above" option...

I would add a few more:
- Music strikes a more essential chord within us than average people - We invest much more energy into our musical listening - As failed musicians, we all appreciate those that can do astonishing things with their instruments more than we can - Because we lead such monastic lives (including possessing exceptionally high degrees of ineptitude in interpersonal relationships), we have nothing better to do - Because life imitates art and all prog rockers are arrogant, self-possessed snobs |

A guy named Jeremy Spade, it says he is a forum newbie with 33 forum points, so the guy went quickly through PA (But had quite the response to his poll)

Discontent is being oriented towards the author... So, for 14 years prog snobs have become more sensitive and more touchy.

Yes, this is a moronic poll, of course, but to be serious, we have a superior taste...

I believe there is some kind of snobbery in most envionments, but the type of snobbery differs, depending on values, artistic references, and especially the context. For instance, a lot of music critics look down at prog rock.

I think we are mutants that have an undiscovered gland that secretes dopamine every time we hear music with shifting time signatures that persists for 7 minutes or more. But that's just me.

It's not that we are snobs - we are superior music listeners and cannot help it if we try to enlighten the unwashed masses. It is THEIR failure. We are the victims here.
