Not to be a downer...but I have the first 2 on old vinyl and find them to be mildly pleasant but ultimately not that interesting.

I think Jon Anderson's latest album, 1000 Hands: Chapter One (2019), is one of his finest albums. I'd even go so far as to say it's better than the Yes: Heaven & Earth (2014) album.

Well... Heaven and Earth got a 2.34 rating here at PA so that's not saying much... ![]() to be honest I have only heard the first 2....after that I simply thought there were better albums to spend my money on.

I'm rather with dr wu here: Anderson's solo efforts or his collaborations have never really impressed me. Most would be three star albums at best... Olias is nice to listen to every once in a while, but for me it's a three star album, maybe three and a half. My preferred one would be Jon & Vangelis' Friends of Mr Cairo (I would give it four stars) and I was pleasantly surprised by his collaboration with Stolt (3,5/4 stars). Expected more from his collaboration with JL Ponty, but that one was disappointing as is 1000 Hands, to my ears...

That might make a decent theme song for an HBO movie of the week. ![]() |

If you're not too impressed by Where Does Music Come From, then try Ramalama, which comes from the same album.

What a Way to Surrender - the atomic hit single from Jon Anderson's third album: Animation (1982). It's a jolly tune about nuclear Armageddon and the end of the world as we know it. It's funny how Jon Anderson still manages to sound bright and cheerful when he's singing about death and destruction in a nuclear holocaust.

Gentle Bump
Anderson's solo work is fantastic a lot of the time, I've got a few of his solo works, and few with Vangelis, great stuff, especially Olias, (and here we are... STILL waiting for the Sequel) Also, random side note, Anderson released a song in 2020, titled 'Go Screw Yourself' it makes for a pretty comedic listen and the video is amazing as well. |
