No idea, to be honest, maybe they don't get adverts.
To prevent my creation of another tedious thread in this forum, how does one obtain the esteemed "prog reviewer" title? Do you just devote most of your time here to reviewing, or something?
First and most important , you have to know what an honorary contributor does before you can be considered as a prog reviewer.

VIP Members are invited to participate in the compilation of the Collaborators Album of the Year lists. That is the only difference with other Forum Senior Members.

I don't think there is such a thing as an honorary contributor is, so I assume this is another joke.
Another question: the "retired" admin Dean has another fancy title: "Amateur Layabout". Is this an actual job or is this yet another joke?

honorary contributor are users that were collabs, mods that retired but their merits are recognized.
If I remember right, Dean was admin and amateur laybout is about the site design which he contributed.

nah, as far as I could tell Dean didn't have a sense of humor. A very serious individual he was.

Dean and I used to argue a lot, but I have a lot of respect for the guy. Few people did more for this site than Dean. He was a very constructive and hard working individual and quite capable of being serious, but also very funny at times as well.
The 'lay about' joke came later after he had retired from being an admin.

I don't like the "Dean was...". He's not dead, is he?

no, but he rarely gets back here.
It's "was" as in use of past tense to tell a story from he past, obviously. Tongue

Dean was serious but he had humor about him, he and I would get into heated debates but always full of respect, usually never came out that way LOL, but I had respect for his opinions. If I did not I would not continue chatting with him.

His layabout is painted in humor. I believe he painted it in a nipple pink color....

'Dean was' refers to the work he did in the past. As far as I know, he is still around and occasionally visits as well.

Dean is alive and well and living in.. I spoke to him about 1 month ago. He's doing fine but is up to his eyeballs in work since the pandemic started. He has a great sense of humor and would have appreciated the serious tag in the context of FatherChristmas' post.

Sometimes he didn't seem that way because he was very difficult to argue with if you didn't know what you were talking about, as he was extremely knowledgeable and didn't suffer fools gladly. The site is lesser from his absence. But I should leave it at that.

^Well, that's good. People trying to argue about something they have no knowledge on should take Jon's advice.

I' m not sure what he would make of that song. I'll have to ask him sometime.
