I am listening right now. The first album seems to have a lot of variations in arrangements. Some better, some not. Yeah Christi, people have got to get up early in the morning to fool you.

Ohh yay!!! Another Genesis thread! This site needs a GORT to monitor duplicate threads....I'm so happy!

ALL GENESIS is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! If you slam any era of Genesis or complain about being too pop, you have little appreciation for great music. One of the greatest band lineups ever:
Peter Gabriel
Mike Rutherford
Steve Hackett
Tony Banks
Phil Collins

Struggling to think of something meaningful to say (okay that never stopped me before lol)

.. they are in my favourite top five band of all time , but actually I would prefer their very obvious massive influence to be de-bunked a bit. We have far too many imitators Wink

And actually, maybe I could do a poll on Genesis's live medleys - I don't think that's been done before.

how many medleys are there? I think I know three - Three Sides Live, The Way We Walk - The Long Ones Medley and the medley from Love Over Europe, a bit different than the one on Three Sides Live. Confused

When in doubt, go to Wikipedia:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Genesis_medleys
Short answer: There are loads of them. LOL

He initially seemed to play around with some of the arrangements, especially Firth of Fifth, but having see him live for the last 4 years, they're now pretty faithful and, live, they're brilliant. Nad Sylvan even does a pretty good job of covering the Peter Gabriel vocals, which I personally believe to be mission impossible :-)

Yes but after listening to them a few times, the newer arrangements actually are good. On Revisited 2, they are more faithful. All in all, good stuff.

Yep, the Hackett albums are excellent, his band are **** hot. Nice to hear the latest one with a live version of Battle of Epping Forest (which I like despite what some people say).

Not to mention a live version of "More Fool Me"!

^^ Hackett's live band and albums are really great. They're probably the nearest you can get to a new Genesis record.
We were talking about Genesis live medleys - here's a Steve Hackett live medley at LA:
^It's a great order, all the songs flow seamlessly into each other.
Just as great, in my opinion, are Steve Hackett's Genesis Revisited albums. The live band are brilliant - featuring a very Gabriel-esque singer.
Supper's Ready, Genesis Revisited:
^Great performance - especially in the battle section.

Oh yeah, that was quite good. Here's the virtuoso playing it live in Italy in 2019:

Hmm, methinks they need to play that in a lower key for Nad. It sounds better on the CD.

See, Gabriel and Collins were better singers than you thought.

Now I know why the term "been there done that" was invented.  LOL

Believe it or not I'm still in the process of rebuying Genesis cds. I have about maybe half of them. I just need a few of the later ones(everything in between abacab and calling all stations)and all the live albums except "the way we walk volume one the shorts" and I'll be up to speed. Also, need the box sets.

Gabriel has an extraordinary voice. Many vocalists have tried and failed to emulate him, not least Steve Morse!!
