In a continuation of my animal themed polls this one takes us on a trip to the farm.  Since 25 songs seems to be too much to keep peoples' interest, I have limited this poll to 10 songs.  It is fairly eclectic as it spans 8 different genres.  There are a couple of songs here that you have likely heard so those that vote without listening can pick their favorite from these. For the rest, I hope that you check them out and maybe find something new that peaks your interest.  Choose your favorite and let me know what you think.

Here is a link to a YouTube playlist of the 10 songs listed.

Much as I have like the Henry Cow and Tartar Lamb, Atomic Rooster's "Death Walks Behind You" is one of my very favourite tracks, and it is one that I've specifically included in various polls. It's my favourite by Atomic Rooster and is one of my very favourites included in Heavy Prog.  It's really great per my tastes.

Only three I know are Cow, Rooster, and Yak....while The AR track is certainly more powerful I'll vote Yak...I like that lp quite a bit.

yeah, I think AR is going to walk this one. The best known song here, me thinks.

Hopefully various people will check out the ones they don't know via the youtube playlist and to refresh memories if needed..  I did, but not only has "Death Walk Behind You" been a long-time favourite of mine, but after checking out the ones I didn't know, it is my favourite of those listed..

Death Walks Behind You is brilliant. But the cover artwork is very creepy. That Blake image is distinctly disturbing.

Camel made their appearance in the first zoo poll...and of course pretty much ran away with it as expected.  Down on the Farm could be the theme song of this series of polls though.

I expected it would be a race between Atomic Rooster and Henry Cow...I'm pleasantly surprised that Caligula's Horse is running a fine race.  If you haven't checked out the Sound Goat Project yet, I recommend giving them a shot.  Theirs is a 2020 debut album so well worth giving a listen for those that participate in the year-end collaborator polls.

Sorry, I cheated. I didn't go any further than SGP when listening to the playlist and fell in love immediately. Voted for them! But I will listen to the rest of the songs. I promise.

Yes - it's like "Camel do Caravan" and they do it really well.

Thank you for taking us to the farm!  Yes, ten or so songs is less intimidating than 25, but it always depends on the time available to listen to a list. And thanks for the YT-playlist, very practical.

I only knew Henry Cow and Atomic Rooster before, and I think I heard something from Yak before too, but they're too much neo-cliché to me. You know I'm not much into prog metal and heavy prog, but the Galactic Cowboys and the Sound Goat Project were no unpleasant listens (but I must admit I skipped through Caligula's Horse... and Fright Pig seem to me more heavy than symphonic...).
My top three contenders (or top four with Henry Cow) are the Chickencage Experience, Tartar Lamb and Go Run Donkey Hot!. From these Tartar Lamb sound the most original to me and get my vote.

Might I suggest Tull's "One Brown Mouse" (an ode to a Robert Burns poem) or "Heavy Horses". Of course, anything from Floyd's Animals would probably clean up in this category. Throw in Robert Plant's blues ballad for his dog "Bron-yr-Aur Stomp".

This is all bands named after farm animals, not songs, although I did technically choose a few songs with animals in the name just by chance or by choice.
