The Swedish band PLANKTON has been around since the late 90's, and have 6 great albums that have been characterized as "instrumental heavy guitar Earth Blues Fusion".  Love it!  Even though they emulate bands like Hendrix, Steve Morse, Wishbone Ash (all of which are listed here!), Robin Trower, Frank Marino, Eric Johnson and more, I'm kind of surprised that they've never been added to ProgArchives.  Their last 2 albums especially lean a little closer to prog.  I'd love for them to get some recognition here.

Anyone else a fan?...

So this band: https://rateyourmusic.com/artist/plankton

Two of these kinds of topics in a day. While there is a Plankton Wat in PA, I can see no suggestion threads for Plankton, so perhaps no one has suggested it yet. I haven't heard of this band that I can recall.

By the way, in case you are wondering why this topic was moved, the Prog Bands, Artists and Genres Appreciation forum and the Prog forum generally, are intended for discussing music already included in Prog Archives. Otherwise, one can use the General Music Discussions or the Suggest New Bands and Artists forum if formally suggesting bands for PA (which requires a certain format). Moved to General Music Discussions/

Maybe you would like to prepare a suggestion thread for Plankton, just be aware of the guidelines: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=122381

That said, you don't make it sound like more than a Prog related band, and the Prog Related category is hard to get into (we keep the size down as a huge amount could fall into that). If "their last 2 albums especially lean a little closer to prog" then that does not sound at all like a strong case for inclusion, and may be why it was never suggested and that I guess it is not very well-known (no other topics on the band that I could see with a search). And you cite various acts in PA that are not in Prog categories (related to prog related, say, does not make a good case).

Anyway, maybe there will be some re fans here.

Here's the first track off the latest album:

Agree with the RYM labels so far, Hard Rock/ Jam band seems to fit well so far, with progressive qualities I would say. Good band whatever one calls it, and I'm sure quite a few at PA would enjoy the music. In the database or not, at least such music can be discovered and discussed at PA.

Appreciate it. I kind of expected those reasons for exclusion here.

I enjoyed it and will listen to more, so thanks for doing this topic. By the way, while we do have various bluesy jam band types in PA, there has been some bias* against such acts.

*And I don't mean bias in a bad way, like the people here are musical bigots.
