FRUUPP may sound like some obscure Krautrock outfit from deep in the heart of Bavaria, but no, they're some obscure Belfast-based outfit from deep in the heart of Northern Ireland. Shocked
 
I'd love to post their four superb  albuumms of Symphonic Prog right here, but that's no longer allowed, so instead, you can check them all out in the link below, if you so wish. Embarrassed

I kind of doubt Psychedelic Paul knows them but there was also a german prog band called Frumpy. At first that's what I thought he was referring to. Lol. 

Anyway, Fruupp are pretty good. I had a two in one of their third and fourth albums at one point(on cd). Yeah, similar to mid seventies Genesis. Apparently(according to the liner notes)they opened up for Genesis at one point.

Wikipedia says they opened for Genesis, Yes and KC.
He does know them, interestingly. At first I thought this was some Robert Fripp project. Wink

they are not Krautrock. I was thinking they are heavy-prog, but they are under eclectic prog here on PA.

Just for the record, not all german prog is considered krautrock. A lot is but not all. A band like Eloy for example were a bit less experimental and more symph oriented and not considered krautrock.

The main difference between Fruupp & Frumpy, besides them being British and German, is Fruupp has a male lead singer by the name of Peter Farrelly, and Frumpy has a female lead singer by the name of Inga Rumpf. Smile
