Here's a little food for thought.

As someone who has built a career in management and engineering I have come to understand and develop a particular philosophy. The simplest and most stable form is a tripod. The old adage that a three legged stool doesn't wobble. Based on this simple fact of engineering Everything can be broken down into major groups of three to be best managed.
For example. My three main priorities in everything I do are:
1 - Safety
2 - Communication
3 - Profitability

Every aspect of life and business can be placed in these buckets and managed accordingly.

With this simple guide, a three party system becomes the most logical and functional system within a government. Canada has had such a system for decades. What makes it work is the fact it takes away the small imbalances in a two party system.
Now I'll admit that NO system is perfect, but any more and it moves to being unmanageable, any less and it ends in either stalemate or a tug of war no one wins.

Here's my question...
Why do people (Americans?) think a three party system is impracticable or ridiculous?

Thank you for supporting independently produced music

^ I don't think all US citizens are enamored with a two party system. I vote for other parties often and i have a lot of respect for the Green party and the Libertarians.

Ross Perot drew enough votes to change the outcome of a presidential election, and some even think Ralph Nader undermined Gore's chance of winning.
Going back in history, the US used to have a 3 party system.

Right now, I'd say that dissatisfaction with both parties is running high.

I don't think comparing Canada and US as three party v/s two party systems is entirely accurate as Canada also has a Parliamentary system which works very differently from a Presidential one.  I will say that multi (as in more than two) party systems are more representative and having more choice is a good thing for voters. US does badly need a strong third party and maybe a fourth party just so that both major parties can stop making every election sound like the existence of the Republic depends on its outcome.  While that may well be true this time, the Left has told the Weimar republic tale every time a GOP candidate looked like becoming President.  You could banish such unhealthy levels of paranoia and make elections an uneventful process as they ought to be if the parties were controlled by the voters rather than vice versa.

In case you weren't aware, Trump admitted he lied about the pandemic and downplayed the pandemic and basically assured an increased death count due to ignoring the pandemic. And he admitted it on tape for everyone to hear.

He should be charged with malfeasance and dereliction of duty at the very least. He called the pandemic a hoax, refused to wear a mask, ignored medical experts, tried to avoid a shutdown for election reasons, and fought with governors who were trying to save lives in their states. And because of him, millions of dimwits and Trumptards refuse to wear a mask, social distance or believe that the pandemic is real.

What president would be stupid enough to confide in Bob Woodward, just shows how little history he knows.

Isn't that just typical, and it happens every bloody time without fail. One moment it's: I wonder how this suckers and losers thing is going to go, and blam! the next thing comes along. In a day or two nobody is going to talk about this military scandal any more. He always pulls this maneuver just when you think: he has to backtrack now, there's no way out of it. And it's going to go on like that again and again and again.

He uses all his scandals to swing along them like on a monkey bar.

For sure, we didn't have a chance to discuss the DOJ move to defend Trump in his defamation suit.

Yes, the DOJ move, the military scandal, and the Woodward book all just in the past week.
How many times have I told myself in the past: yes, this is the big one that's going to sink him! But ... nothing. That's how this is going to go too, in the end. I've learnt from history going way back to the ancient times of 2016.
This guy has only one good thing going for him: he convinces people of the existence of the devil who has his back at all times.

They don't believe he's the devil and that's the problem. To say they see the world through rose colored glasses would be an understatement.

I have trouble thinking of those who love him as people.  Yet they are.  I even know a few, sadly.  Mostly, I think the people that "love him" are those who are one or maybe two issue voters.  And they are not really great at thinking through their arguments.  Yet they will not be swayed.  But I hope there are enough people yet in my country who have discernment who will make sure this doesn't happen again.  If not, I am near enough death that it might not affect me too much.  But I care about those who come after me.

oh there is.... and I'm hoping he is stupid enough to test it. I have the good dope and bad popcorn ready for it.. for who really doesn't see it coming

The only thing sweater than seeing him voted out and conceding defeat.. like anyone really thinks he will.. gracefully? Hah...not a chance

.. is to see him escorted out at gunpoint  by his secret service, federal agents..and/or military  perhaps even toss in a few Joe Six Packs armed to the teeth for good measure.

he (and his f**king moronic supporters) may have damaged severely our nation. and our system...  if he tries to break it...  he'll see there is indeed a bottom LOL

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died at 87 from cancer. God help us.

Mitch McConnell is an honorable man.  He won't allow a vote for a new Supreme Court Justice in the outgoing months of a Senate.  He believes that it should be a responsibility of the people that are elected in November.

(And if you believe that, I've got some real estate in the swamps that I'd like to sell to you.)

Just what we didn't need.  Wonder how they will try to take back the idea of having to wait until after the election to appoint a new judge?

she was a fighter wasn't she... RIP darlin'.

the politics of this moving forward.... in a word.. facinating.

Do they have enough time to ram through a pick...  likely not.. took nearly 4 months to get Kavanaugh through..

McConnell might try.. but already there are GOP senators on record saying.. several months ago.. that it would indeed be hypocritical and regardless of what Mitch wants..  if he doesn't have 50...  it will be the new Senate and President that chooses her successor.

added into that . a slight underdog to keep the Senate.. making a fight of this likely dooms their chances of keeping the Senate.

it is worth a pick... to McConnell it is.. but regardless of what he wants.. there are upwards of 10 senatros fighting for their political lives right now.. and likely dont' want this to be an issue in November and piss off women voters even more.
