You shall begin to know me and my weird request about including bands in the prog spectrum ; but this one kinda hit it actually.
Even if it got the Ska etiquette, The Specials have a developped sense of humor and a political/sociological message in almost every of their songs, as well as expérimentations with sounds, blends of musical genres and typical prog instruments (organs etc)
What do you think about it?

NB:This is not an actual request, just a slight suggestion
So don’t evade the surgeon’s blade
Cos the answer could be in your mind
Maybe one cut and we’ll find
We’re just a wavelength behind

But we are entwined

And I know what you need

I like The Specials, but their music bears absolutely no relation to that of any RIO band and it's beyond me why anyone would think it did.

Also, organ is a “prog instrument” in the same sense that guitar or drums are - i.e. in no specific sense at all.

Likewise, writing lyrics with wit, humour, social and political commentary etc is in no way a distinguishing characteristic of RIO bands. Such lyrical elements can be found in every genre of popular music.

Soldato of the Pan Head Mafia. We'll make you an offer you can't listen to.

Despite my appreciation for SKA and some Punk, I see no relations with prog at all.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Yes, mammals with a pulse wedded to consciousnesses and using an organ. Sounds like my late Uncle Peter chipped off his tits on Craven Mild Ready Rubbed. At last, the stifling conservatism that has hitherto denied Jess Yates his richly deserved place in Prog Archives has finally been lifted. How about another slight suggestion that you promise to never post here again?

Yep, possible use of a mellotron in one song definitely qualifies a band as prog.

i'd rather have The Teletubbies in, since at least all the music was written by someone who is actually on the site (and I'd be interested to see if anyone can guess who it is).
A TVR is not a car. It's a way of life.

I know Dave Greenslade and Francis Monkman both wrote a lot of music for TV. But they are probably too obvious.

Teletubbies composer is:
Andrew William John McCrorie-Shand from Druid

The backup band contains some big names including Donald Dunn, Roger Hawkin and Steve Cropper

Don't see anyone angry here, just some gentle ribbing.
