It's time for another interactive music poll, and this time it's your chance to name your Top 8 composers of film music. Simply list your Top 8 movie score composers below and I'll then allocate points to your listings based on the number 48:-
 
1st place - 24 points

^ I like Quincy Jones and Barry Gray too, so maybe I should have made it a Top 10, then I could have included them in my list. Smile

I'm sure Lady Penelope is still a fine looking woman, though her acting could be a bit wooden. Barry Gray was an excellent composer who could have been successful doing movie scores, but maybe the fact that he was known for working on kids shows counted against him. These are three of my favourites by him:

"UFO" is actually based on "Thunderbirds"; many of the vehicles in "UFO" already appear in "Thunderbirds".

I was a massive fan of both but I'm not convinced that's true to be honest.

However more fun facts

The Concorde engineers were massive Thunderbirds fans and had calculated (in their spare time!) how TB2 could fly

Space 1999 was originally entitled UFO1999 and intended to be a sequel to the original series. 

The blonde 'hottie' Wanda Ventham who appeared in UFO is the mother of Benedict Cumberbatch

yep including a really interesting Sci-Fi film called Doppelganger (the screenplay was written by Gerry and Sylvia Anderson of course!)

You have to take what I said with a grain of salt. I did not mean "UFO" was an attempt to redo "Thunderbirds" with real actors. But both have the same producers. And it is true that the same vehicles appear in both, for example the submarine/fighter combo.

Thunderbirds is very serious business to me Tongue

The submarine in Thunderbirds was Thunderbird 4 and was carried to its missions by Thunderbird 2 so I'm not even sure what you were thinking for that one.

Both were chocked full of clever (perhaps even ingenious) ideas. Yes to some extent Gerry Anderson was taking the Thunderbirds thing into live action territory with UFO. 

For it's time it was a terrific sci-fi show and even managed some decent drama element to it at times. My favourite episode included the noted actor George Cole (who later became famous for the hit TV series Minder) who gave away some Moonbase secrets to the Aliens (for reasons I forget now). In order to redeem himself he went out onto the moon surface to use a mobile rocket launcher to bring down one of that UFO's that was intending to exploit a weakness in the Moonbase defences from the intel they got from him. As a result his space suit got punctured and he was left stranded to die. As a kid I remember crying at the end of the episode. Desperately sad stuff.
