^ From the name alone, I never would have guessed that The Psychedelic Ensemble is a solo artist. Smile

Sebastian Hardie is a group, like Jethro Tull.

I'm surprised that noone has mentioned Adrian Belew. He has some pretty sweet solo albums.

You almost have to mention Kate Bush, Tori Amos, and Peter Gabriel.
Of the fusion guitarists, Allan Holdsworth and Al DiMeola are obvious choices. I have to add Santana as well.

If you like technical metal, Ron Jarzombek's solo albums are amazing in their complexity.

You could say the same thing about technical prowess for keyboard and Rick Wakeman.

Trevor Rabin's solo albums are almost as good as his Yes albums.

That's 10, although there are many other great ones out there. Each of these artists deserves 30 points.

Yes, you can include Carlos Santana, seeing as he's released several solo albums over the years, including "Blues for Salvador" which I can highly recommend if you like the Santana band. Smile

I’ll have to spend a little time thinking who’s going on my list

Oye como va mi ritmo!
Bueno pa' gozar!

Of course Santana counts!

Well ... how could I forget Frank Zappa? I need more coffee or something. Oh no! If I add him, that means I have more than 10. Well, I guess it is goodbye to Adrian Belew. Now I know why he isn't on any of the lists. He did play with Frank Zappa, though. Hmmm ... but, if I do that ... it wouldn't be a solo act. Aha! I've got it! Frank Zappa as a solo act, with Adrian Belew accompanying.

Phew!

It took me a week to decide who was going on my list before I posted this poll, and I'm still adding to the Bubbling Under section, even as we speak. Smile

No, I was actually referring specifically to Santana (not Carlos Santana).

Phew!

Carlos Santana and Frank Zappa qualify as both solo artists and bands, just like Alice Cooper. Smile

In that case then, No, Santana the band doesn't count as a solo artist. Smile
