At least you have minor league variety.........The Mariners are a very good HS baseball team, from what I have watched, not just Seattle, its not great baseball being played right now. Which again is to be expected......I'm good with all the fake noises in the stadiums, I watch a lot of latin baseball (Mexico and others) and the noises are insane, blowing horns all game long. LOL

I guess the future of baseball is now in South Korea and Japan. Both started allowing fans back into the stadiums, though at partial capacity. KBO is playing its full 144-game schedule too. Too bad the handling of the pandemic in the U.S was such a disaster.

^ You can blame California and NY for the mess........A concert in NY and the city knew nothing about it??? Hello permits have to be issued for concerts....LOL

MLB did not do a good job of installing best practices for the teams.....what did they think was going to happen.

As a Tampa Bay Ray fan, this is all very frustrating since I feel they were/are set up to have a great season. I hope we can at make is though at least this truncated thing and have a post season but whoever wins it all will have an asterisk by their name, even though they will have to battle through 15 teams.

Hi,

I'm guessing that most baseball players are not taking these things seriously ... and that the proper precautions are not taking place ... otherwise something like the EPL and Bundesliga would have also fallen apart with the number of cases ... and it hasn't!

Basketball will have the same issue ... as well as American football ... as I do not see that these folks take things seriously ... football specially is a problem since the players all play up close to each other and hit each other and pile up on cue!

I don't know what you have against California and NY, but the whole damned country is a freaking mess. The buck usually stops at the White House, or at least it used to.

MLB should have taken a cue from the NBA.

Hi,

I was about to post that ... here, the whole thing is about politics, not the virus ... to the point that they even have to fight about helping the public ...

Heck, I just read that in Portugal they are injecting steroids directly into the lungs, and people are clear and gone in a day or two! And the USA? ... you have to get past Peace Hell before you see a doctor ... because all they hire is quacks and rats ... that went to medical school, but never took a course in medications and how to define/decide which to use!

As the Hindu mystic used to say to Micky ... take two tablas and I will see you in the morning!

Haven't watched MLB since the final pitch of the '18 season, and then only 'cause I was out of town with work and stayed at a hotel with cable TV.  Used to love the game - played it straight thru college, then softball for 30 years, now retired with swollen ankles.

To think of all the ways they're trying to shorten games without ever thinking to CUT THE F(#&#G commercials out every half inning, every time there's a pitching change, every time there's a mound visit, every time there's a slight delay on the field for any reason.....and those damn announcers - don't get me started!

Love the game but can't invest 200 bucks a month on cable to watch, nor do I have 5 hours to invest daily in following my Sox.  Mores the pity, man.

Hi,

I'm still of the opinion that the biggest hurdle for all of us is getting past the networks offering incredible amounts of money for the TV rights, and the teams accepting it ... the downside of this is that STREAMING is being prevented by many teams ... and (for example) Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus not having the ability to show their game worldwide on streaming for a fee, in the end, is going to hurt the game. Same thing for baseball or football when the numbers of people you can get for a game will be way bigger than the folks sitting in the stands ... and the teams can not do it because of the TV rights.

Nothing like commerce preventing the development of something else ... in this case, streaming.

Not to mention that the record companies are making sure their bands do not stream shows before a CD/DVD is sold! But it also means that the lesser bands are out of luck with no outlet for their stream to be shown. The rights for mp3 broadcast, these days are getting prohibitive, but then it also was with Real Audio 20 years ago, beyond the 25 feeds.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!
