Trivia information. Geddy Lee's real first name is Gary(Gary Lee Weinrib). When his friends came over they would notice that when his mom called him in her thick yiddish accent it would sound like Geddy and so the name stuck. Ok, who on here didn't know that? :P

I read about that and his family history in a rock magazine when I was in HS, so it was early 80s. More details of he and the other 2 came out on Beyond The Lighted Stage documentary. I had actually forgotten about it till the documentary came out.

I heard about it either through the Beyond the Lighted Stage documentary or the Rush biography book I have. I think it was the book but I'll have to go back and check. That documentary is great. It would be cool if the guys who did it did one on prog in general but they are much more into metal so that will probably never happen. Oh well.

SoCal-based Rush tribute Caress of Steel's members now go by their real names, but their former stage names were:

NEAR PEART

ALMOST LIFESON

SCARY LEE (he couldn't think of anything better, apparently)

They did a section on progressive metal . They even had interviews with Steve Hackett, Chris Squire and maybe a few others but that's not the same thing and not a separate section or video on progressive rock. No disrespect to prog metal but I mean just regular prog. I don't know for sure if that's what you are referring to though. Same Dunn is the guy who did the metal documentary that had a section on prog metal and he also is the guy(or one of the guys)who did the documentary on Rush.

There actually is a series on prog rock called Romantic Warriors but they focus on various subgenres and never really did a full blown history of prog as far as I know.
